Review: South Jersey Radiology Association is engaging in illegal billing practice(s), referred to as balance billing pursuant to N.J.A.C. 11:3-29.5. On or about 05/27/2011 I was a patient at a [redacted] hospital in which south jersey radiology association was the provider. They then proceeded to bill one of my three insurance careers, [redacted] of NJ for a CT scan in the amount of $603.00. After payments were made by [redacted] rather than obtaining a Coordination of Benefits (COB) regarding my secondary insurance careers, [redacted] and [redacted] South Jersey Radiology Associates decided to instead bill my for the balance. As a [redacted] Beneficiary, this an in illegal and unethical billing practice, and is strictly prohibited by both federal and state law(s), ([redacted](a).) South Jersey Radiology Association was well aware that I was not liable for the bill and/or balance, and they demonstrated a gross abuse and neglect of acceptable billing practices. They then proceeded to retain [redacted] Collection Agency and have threatened by with litigation.Desired Settlement: Pursuant to statutes and federal and state laws, I want to be discharged of any debt/balance South Jersey Radiology Associations claims I owe them for date of service 05/27/2011. I am not liable and/or responsible for their failure to obtain a coordination of benefits (COB), and their failure to properly bill insurance careers for the services they rendered to me. This practice of Balance Billing is illegal and unethical, and also unprofessional.
