Excellent service and very educated and experienced staff

I am with [redacted] and we are general contractors in Nashville. We use SNHC for nearly 100% of our heating and cooling needs. They are an absolute wonderful company and very reputable and we would highly encourage anyone to use their business

In January 2014 I called South Nashville Heating and Cooling and talked to Jason B[redacted]. He was part owner at the time.
I had a burning smell. He replaced the motor and all electronics and my insurance paid $2160. He said there was nothing else wrong.
I took the motor and capacitor to have it tested. It tested perfectly and was told that more than likely all the electronics were good. Jason had ripped off my insurance company for $2,610. I found out what the real problem was later.
The burning smell never went away. So I call Jason B[redacted] back three more times over several weeks and he said he could not smell anything, even though the smell would turn your stomach. He tried to rent me a machine that cost $500 on every service call that would sample the air in my house and be sent to a lab for analysis. I said no. The third visit, he did a carbon monoxide test. The carbon monoxide meter reading was twenty parts per million. Jason said this was Ok. I found that exposure to small parts per million of carbon monoxide over an extended period of time can cause serious health problems or possibly death. Jason told me and my insurance adjuster that there was nothing wrong with my furnace, and that there was nothing he could do about the smell. The reason why no one could smell anything? I found out later that HVAC companies hate to change out heat exchangers. He knew the heat exchanger was cracked all along and was trying to milk me and my insurance for all he could. He charged me $338 for these three visits.
I asked Jason in March 2014 to put in a new furnace. He quoted a 125,000 BTU furnace. He installed a 100,000 BTU unit. Later on, I found out that by putting in the 100,000 BTU unit, he saved himself about $750, and instead of $3,380 he quoted, he charged me $3,655. So in all, he pocketed about $1,000 by putting in a 100,000 BTU unit.
Later, Jasons right hand man pointed out in my old furnace several cracked heat exchanger rivets and said that's where the carbon monoxide was coming from. I found out later this brand of furnace was renowned for having cracked heat exchangers.
In May of 2014, I asked Jason if he could put in a new evap coil unit. Then more problems arose. Then I started dealing with the original owner of the company, Phillip [redacted].
Phillip came over and found the foil tape not sticking under the bottom the evap coil unit and air blowing out, and the drain pipe from the evap coil drain pan was in the wrong drain outlet. And he found behind the service door entrance to the evap coil box that the deflector plate was sitting outside of the evap coil drain pan, allowing water to get into the insulation in the bottom of the evap coil box. He also found that the furnace and the evap coil box had not been leveled, which let water spill over into the evap coil box. Phillip ended up replacing this evap coil box with a new one.
Jason was booted out of the company near the end of summer of 2014.
In mid January of 2015, I got Phillip to put in the 125,000 BTU unit I paid for. At this point, I thought Phillip was a whole lot better to deal with than Jason, but I changed my mind after what happened next.
After a few weeks, I started smelling a burning smell again. My A/C filters we're dark and dirty after only three weeks of use. There was a 30 parts per million carbon monoxide reading in my house and the taste of the air in your mouth was terrible.
I called Phillip and he came out with his son Mark and they said that they couldn't smell anything, which was strange. Then Phillip pulled out a gas detection meter. He turned it on outside and walked into the house and the meter went crazy, ticking very fast. Phillip and his son both looked at me with big eyes and their mouths wide open. Then Phillip went to one of the A/C vents in the den, then to the kitchen sink drain and on to the bathroom sink drain. Same deal again. So Phillip says that I've got something terribly wrong in my house, some kind of gas or something is leaking into my house. Then his son Mark asks him about this machine that can sample the air in my house and tell what's wrong. It would cost me $500 to rent it. I told them no, I did not want to rent it. They left shortly afterwards. Nothing was done about the problem.
I've been dealing with this company for two years with nothing but problems, trickery and lies. I've been using space heaters to heat my house for three winters. I have a year old furnace that already has a heat exchanger issue with carbon monoxide in my house at a rate of 30 parts per million. And now I'm expected to pay between $1000 and $1500 for labor to fix this problem that shouldn't be a problem until the furnace is 5 years old or older. These guys are slick and they will use your lack of knowledge about hvac systems against you as well as try to scare you with different tactics in order to get your money. And they claim to be Christians too. I recommend no one doing business with them, ever.
