I would very much recommend South River Contracting Of Roanoke. My wife and I were in the market for a whole house generator and when we were at the Home Show at the Salem Civic Center we came upon the South River Generac generator exhibit.

Fred C[redacted], owner explained all about the how the generators would keep our home's

electrical power on during a power failure. We were impressed with his presentation.

We set an appointment for him to come and give us an estimate. He came and spent a great deal of time going over every detail involved, and showed us pictures of jobs his company had done before to give us an idea how the generator would look in our yard. He said he would go to his office and write up a detailed estimate and e-mail it to us.

We received it the next day and was pleased with it and gave the go ahead to do the job. The gas company had to run a gas line from the street to our house. After that was completed Mr. C[redacted] and three of his employees came the next day and installed the generator. We were very pleased with the workmanship of Mr C[redacted] and his employees. The job was completed in a very satisfactory and a timely manner.

It is good to know that in the future when we need any electrical or plumbing work done we will definitely choose South River Contracting.

I met the president of this business at a local Home Show exhibit in 2013. I was impressed by his competence, honesty and gentlemanliness. That fall I engaged the company to install a Generac standby electrical plant at our residence.

The installation was neatly and professionally performed. The unit worked flawlessly.

In late winter of 2015 high winds blew down large trees along a main power line on a highway nearby that caused a power failure for some hours. The generator powered up, but I noticed that half of the electrical circuits in the house were without power. I called South River, and within some 22 minutes the president appeared at the door. We made some electrical measurements, and one of his technicians who was factory trained on my particular unit arrived shortly. The trouble was that one pole of the DPDT transfer switch failed to make electrical contact due presumably because of a stink bug on a contact!

So after we debugged the switch, literally, full power was restored during the rest of time. When commercial power came back on line, the generator shut down as normal.

The difficulty that I experienced was not the fault of South River, yet I enjoyed absolutely top speed service that was impressive.
