Review: this hotel charged me for a 2night stay when I shoud have been charged only for one. they claimed because the reservation was made for two night I would be charged for two nights. I explain that opon check in I told the person working at the time it would be only for night and she stated as long as I check out before 11 am I would not get charged. I was threatned with calling the police on me simply because we were trying to dispute the charge. After asking for the manager and speaking with her she aggreed to give us a refund because of the big misunderstanding. But right as we were leaving the front door the receptionist said " you got a refund but we will still be charging you $150 for smoking in the room". when we turned around to confront her claims she insisted she was not speaking to us. Offcourse about 20 minutes later we get a charge on our credit card for 150 dollars. I do not smoke and neither does anyone on my group. after reading some other reviews in trip advisor I saw that alot of ppl are complaining about being scammed by this resort. they wait until you checkout and then charge you for misc charges.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund as this hotel are thieves. they have no proff of me ever smoking int hat room and they already have a bad reputation about being overcharging thie costumers

Yes, we are all well aware of this guest to our inn. They checked in at 3 am, said there were 2 people but in fact there were 2 couples (4 people). They reserved for two nights and were aware that we have a strict cancellation policy (no refunds within the 14 days prior to stay).

They checked out at approx. 11 am the next day and were unhappy that they were charged for their reserved stay, (2 nights), a smoking charge $150 per room per night for smoking in our guest rooms, and extra person charge ($49 per person per night in addition to double occupancy).

These amounts were reversed.

However, we generally do not accommoodate check ins at 3 am. There were several calls from surrounding rooms that someone was "partying" in their room. We had to refund two rooms for the behavior from the [redacted] room. There was evidence of smoking in the room that [redacted] denied (and so we reversed the charge even though we had complaints from 2 neighboring rooms, found matches and butts in the garbage, and had smell of cigarettes-- and other-- in the room after this group checked out.

We take complaints seriously but also expect our overnight guests to respect our policies (no smoking, per person charge for more than 2 adults per room). We also require that our guests respect the quiet of others staying at the inn. And we definitely do not tolerate guests who offer $50 to our staff to "take care of them".

Review: On September [redacted], 2015, I reserved a room for 2 nights, from September 16 to 18 via the telephone.

I checked in and was not informed of any issues.

Upon checkout I was handed a bill that included a cancellation charge. I inquired about what the charge was for since I had not cancelled any night. The woman at the desk said it was just for their system and I would not be charged.

The Southampton Inn charged me, for a night I did not reserve, for a night I did not stay, and then was lied to by the front desk clerk about the charge.Desired Settlement: Refund the $200 + taxes charge to my billing Credit card.

The dispute in question has since been resolved with the consumer directly. The guest acknowledged his mistake that was made during the booking process, while under stress from the recent passing of his father. Given the circumstances, this was the result of a simple miscommunication and he has since been appropriately refunded the $200 (plus tax) back to his credit card.
