Southeast Childrens Fund Reviews (1)

We are responding to complaint ID#[redacted]. The consumer has been a client of ours since December of 2015. When she enrolled her daughter into our school she was given a yearly calendar of school closures. The school closes for Professional Development trainings and legal holidays. The only time...

school closes is when it’s an emergency that is out of our control, as we are tenants in a government building. So when there is an issue with the building (ex: heat or air systems it may require us to close for the safety of the children, staff and families without proper notice. All closings are reported to our licensing agency that provides us with the approval to close due to our participation in the Child Care Subsidy program. Parents that participate in the Child Care Subsidy program are informed of their responsibilities and the terms of co-payments. Reimbursements are not provided to parents when the schools are granted approved closings. The consumer has addressed some concerns to the school in regards to the care of her daughter. When those concerns were brought to the attention of the leadership they were addressed immediately. We have tried several times to have a face to face conference with the parent however she states that her schedule does not allow her to take off. We then offered to have a phone conference, after the 2nd attempt the parent agreed to the phone conference. We conferenced with the parent on September  10, 2016. The conference included the Interim Director, the child’s teachers and the parent. The concern was the child’s eating habits which the teachers and the parent discussed and together came up with strategies that can be used at home and at school to help the child eat and drink more. The consumer has not brought any concerns to my attention since the last phone conference. The consumer also mentioned that the staff does not appear to be qualified because they are young. We are a licensed and Accredited Child Development Center which requires all staff to meet the necessary requirements set forth by the licensing agency to work with young children. Teachers hold a minimum of a CDA, most have AA or either BA degrees in Early Childhood Development.  The consumer also mentioned that we have had a high turnover, we have experienced some changes in teaching staff however the consumers child’s teachers have been consistent since she has been enrolled. The consumer has not shared an interest of withdrawing her child as she is in attendance daily.Tanetta M[redacted]Interim DirectorSoutheast Children’s Fund CDC II
