In response to *** ***'s complaint about myself and other Cooperative Employees being rude, unhelpful and degrading
Sometimes people don't like what you tell them and not once in my conversation or anyone else's was she mistreated
In response to the old debt, she is buying the property from the person that owes the debt, lease purchase, taking over the noteShe may have been living there also when this bill was charged
We do not require a deposit for electric service if the new applicant can furnish a good letter of credit from a previous utility or if they already have good credit with usWe also have the Prepay plan which requires no deposit alsoAll of these options were offered to Mrs***We also work with all members if a deposit needs to be paid out
This residence was furnished electrical service on 6/16/
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/06/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The problem is not with paying a depositThe problem is with employees treating me like I am a 'bum' and accusations like ' she may have been living there' are absurdI have a contract and agreement with the previous owner and most assuredly was not residing in the residence while prevous charges were being racked up (as the coop was fully aware of since they let the previous client get what I am told by the company is months behind)The problem here is that no other business operates this wayPrevious debts to a company are handled between that person and said company not with the next person to come alongThis is the only electric provider in the area and they are fully aware of that so they can do as they pleaseThe response was in no way a solution to the problem nor was there even an apology offeredThis 'policy' and monopoly of the electric service in the area are unacceptable
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/07/06) */
Mrs*** stated that she has a contract and agreement with the previous owner who owed the debt on the propertyWe do not allow someone who owes us money at a property to gain income from that property without paying that debtAs she stated she has an agreement and contract with themHer complaint should be with the person she is renting or buying fromThis will be our last response to her complaint
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2015/07/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There is no income gain on the property and agreement, not that this has anything to do with the event in questionThe coop let someone else get behind on their agreement and in addition to being rude and unhelpful, to say the least, is holding a third party responsibleAt this point acusations have been made towards myself and heinous imaginary policies are now being fabricatedIf the justification now is that the previous debtor is making income from my agreement with them then shouldn't that be all the more reason for the coop to attempt to collect their debts with that debtor? As they have stated that they wouldn't want someone to be making money while owing them a debt (which isn't even the case in this situation)The policies and behavior of this company unrealistic and out dated

In response to the Annual Awards Ceremony and had awards. This is our Annual Meeting. Each year we have a Membership meeting and yes we...

do have door prizes for those members in attendance that register. They have the chance to win a door prize at the end of the meeting. Some of the prizes are furnished by our vendors that we do business with and some are purchased by the cooperative. In response to the late fee, yes we do charge a late fee if the bill is not paid by the due date. We allow a few grace days each month before we place the penalty charge on a members account. Mr. [redacted] did pay his bill on the 11th and was not charged a late penalty. Mr.[redacted] can contact the Cooperative and ask for a different billing cycle that will offer a due date that is different than the billing cycle that his account in on now. In response to the Power cost Adjustment or PCA and some electric Cooperatives call it "FUEL CHARGE". Yes that charge does change each month. The easiest way to explain it is, we have a base rate that we charge each month for each kilowatt of electricity used. The PCA IS THE DIFFERENCE IN OUR BASE RATE AND WHAT THE ELECTRICITY COST US TO PURCHASE. THIS CHARGE WILL BE GETTING HIGHER IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE AS WE SEE OUR GOVERMENT PUTTING MORE REGULATIONS ON OUR COAL FIRED PLANTS THAT PRODUCE IT. We will be contacting Mr.[redacted] by phone to discuss his complaint more. This will be our last response to this consumers complaint. Thank You.
