January 29, 2016Revdex.comAttn: [redacted] E4th, Suite 600Cincinnati, OH 45202Re: [redacted] ComplaintDear [redacted] ,I am in receipt of your request for information regarding a complaint filed by a customer of Southeastern Indiana REMC, [redacted] .I have interviewed my employees and had them document all interaction between REMC, [redacted] and [redacted] .Background – [redacted] and [redacted] lived together at a service location served by REMC Our understanding is that [redacted] had a previous bankruptcy and when service was requested, it was put in [redacted] name and a $security deposit was required based on her credit score The $was paid by [redacted] and the account was in [redacted] name.1-7-[redacted] came to REMC requesting to have the service taken out of her name and wanted the $transferred to [redacted] who was to come in the office on Friday 1-8- The $could not be transferred until all charges incurred on the account through 1/7/was paid An un-answered call was made to [redacted] to let her know that after the final bill, any credits would be mailed to her The total amount due was $less the deposit amount of $400, leaving a credit balance of $that was in the process of being mailed to [redacted] .1-8-16REMC could not complete the transfer of service until [redacted] signed required paperwork, provided proof of ID, and paid a $security deposit [redacted] did not show up and REMC proceeded to disconnect the account due to electricity being consumed and no responsible party to pay for energy being used at the service location.Friday evening (approximately 6:30) after business hours, a person identifying themself as [redacted] called dispatch requesting service be turned on REMC does not connect after hours and the person was told they would have to come in on Monday to complete the request.A second individual called after that stating there was a power outage at the service location – REMC records indicated that the account was shut off and a power outage at this location was not possible.1/[redacted] came to office upset, requesting to speak with a Supervisor Supervisor informed her of everything that had transpired [redacted] stated that she was unaware that [redacted] had told us she would be in on Friday – it was not possible because she was at work Supervisor told her that the electricity was shut off because we had an energized service and no person was responsible for any charges incurred – [redacted] responsibility ended on 1-7-at her request[redacted] was informed that she would need to sign necessary paperwork, provide proof of ID, and pay a $security deposit She became upset and stated that the original $was paid by her Supervisor told her that the account in [redacted] name had a final bill and the $was used to satisfy that final bill and the remaining credit balance was to be mailed to [redacted] [redacted] informed Supervisor that [redacted] told her she had paid the final bill and $was to be transferred to her This was not correct.At this point [redacted] called [redacted] and a phone confrontation occurred witnessed by the Supervisor Once the foul language and accusations ceased, [redacted] was put on speaker phone so the Supervisor could be instructed The instructions from [redacted] was to pay REMC the difference between the $deposit and final bill with [redacted] credit card This would restore the original $credit balance and that amount was to be used as a security deposit for a service in [redacted] name [redacted] would not receive any credit balance.Anita [redacted] apologized for her actions, language and comments and stated that [redacted] had screwed everything up and was lying to everyone.The electric service was energized on 1-11-in the name of [redacted] with a $security deposit.Hopefully this will clear the matter up If you have any further questions or comments, please contact me and I will be glad to address your requests.Sincerely,Barry L.Director of Office ServicesSoutheastern Indiana REMC
