I went for an estimate on getting my windshield wiper repaired on 1/16/15. Mr. [redacted] repaired it without consent and it broke two months later. On 1/16/15, I went to Jerry's and asked for a diagnostic to determine what was wring with my windshied wipers. He returned some time later and told me I owed him $320. I told him I did not have that kind of money and all I wanted was an estimate of repair costs. He said he would reduce the price and refused to give me my van until I paid him $160. I had my nephew bring me more cash and left with my van.Two months later my wipers stopped working. I took it to another mechanic and he said the motor that Jerry supposedly replaced was not working. He told me to go back to Jerry and ask for the warranty information on the motor.Jerry refused to give me the warranty and said I would have to pay him to repair the wiper again. I refused and told him I wanted the documentation of the manufacturers warranty for the wiper motor he installed back in January. He would not give it to me, so I have no documentation to enable me to petition the manufacturer for a replacement on a motor that worked only two months.Desired SettlementI would like a new motor to replace the defective one that [redacted] installed, or the documentation from the motor that he purchased and put in my car so that I can request a replacement from the manufacturer.Business Response Southern Auto Electric/Jerry 111 East Brooks RdJuly 16th, 2015Re:Revdex.comc/o [redacted]#XXXXXXXXI feel as a business owner I go out of the way to satisfy my customer which cost me. I feel Ms [redacted] committed a fraud because she was giving the part and labor cost before any work was done and at that time she should have been honest enough to say she could not afford the bill at this time. "If you get any Auto Zone part and find out it was wrong you can take it back and that's is how the warranty work. Ms [redacted] was giving somereal opportunities to take her van somewhere else for repairs. I told her the problem and the cost she could have returned to her regular mechanic where she is comfortable with the repair her van. I am not content with Ms [redacted] reason why she did not return when the first sign of trouble. I even repair her back window wiper at no charge. I do not know who she had to look at her van since my work was performed. I gave her a dignostic she could have paid the diagnostic fee and I would have been content with her business. I run a business not a gift shop. I am not aware of every shop warranty or procedure but I only ask to honor my warranty. Someone else could have tapered with her van and enable something to quit working. I wish this letter will be the final letter and this matter resolved. Ms [redacted] have no told the complete truth in this matter but I held no hard feeling against her.Thank youSouthern Auto ElectricMGRConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)My daughter wrote the previous letter for me concerning my complaint about the treatment that I received at Jerry Southern Auto Electric in January. She left out most of the important details and mailed it before I proofread it. I took my van to Mr. Aaron Jordan, a mechanic to get my windshield wiper fixed. I then went to AutoZone to get the wiper motor. The sales man told me to make sure I got the correct part because once the part is open and used me could not bring it back. Therefore, I did not get the part and told Aaron what the salesperson said. Aaron agreed and he checked the fuse, relay, and told me they were all good. He told me to go to Jerry's Electric on Third Street and have him check my van. I take care of my 84-year-old aunt. She has Alzheimer's so I have to take her with me all the time. I went to Jerry and told him that Aaron had sent me and he had checked all the fuses and relays and they were fine. I also told him that Aaron wanted to make sure it was not anything else that was making the wipers not work. (Electrical) Jerry told me he could not work on my van as long as my aunt was there. He said my aunt made him nervous because she looked sick. I told him about her condition and even though she looks frail, she was fine. He insisted he could not work on my van with her being there and I could go home until he contacted me. So I called my nephew Greg Thurman who lives about 10 minutes from the shop. Jerry told me to leave a phone number and he will call me in about 45 minutes and let me know something. My nephew came and we went across the street to Kentucky Fried Chicken and I watched from across the street. I did not want to go far and leave my van because the reason Jerry gave did not make since to me. I did not understand why he could not work on my van because of my aunt. My van stayed in the same position with the hood up. He and another man came out and was doing something to it. I called back to the shop and the woman at the desk told me they could not reach me so Jerry fixed my van. I was promised a call and this upset me. When I got back to the shop, I asked him what did he do. He told me he put a motor in and repaired the pig tail when he could not reach me. I asked what a pigtail is and why he did not wait and talk to me before he did the work. I asked what did he charge and he told me $350 for the diagnosis, parts and labor. I told him I asked him to do a diagnosis and I want my van. I told him it was no way I would pay him for something I did not give him permission to do. He said he would go in the back and let me know something when he came back. He came from the back and told me $160. Since, I don't carry a lot of cash on me I went out to the car and I borrowed $60 from my nephew. My nephew had come in the shop at that time. I paid Jerry and asked for a receipt. When I got ready to drive off the windshield still did not work. I went back inside and told him. He came out, let up the hood, and did something and the wipers started working. I told him if I had any problems with the wipers I would bring the van back.I called the shop in March and told the person answering the phone my wipers had stopped working and I need to talk to Mr. Jerry. She said Jerry would call me back but he never did. I went to two mechanics and they both told me to the same thing. They said I need to take the van back and tell him to fix it right. Plus the parts on my car did not appear to have been replaced. They said to tell Jerry to give me the receipt with the warranty because the wiper motor have a lifetime manufacture warranty. They also gave me a copy of a wiper motor receipt with the lifetime warranty on the bottom. (Attached)I went back to Jerry's shop in May and the woman at the desk said Jerry was not in. My aunt and nephew were with me at this time and I told her that my wipers only worked 2 months. I begin to tell her what the Auto Stores salespersons and the other mechanics said. I explained that I needed the manufacture warranty from the part that was replaced on my van. Jerry appear from the back and said if I gave him more money he would fix it but to get out of his shop otherwise. We had some more words he came from around the desk and got in my face. I could see my aunt was getting upset so I knew it was best to leave. I let him know I didn't like the way he treated me. I also let him know I was going to get some help and tell what he had done. I read the letter that Jerry wrote concerning my complaint and I do not agree. My nephew recorded the conversation on his phone and the truth is there on the recording. I came for a diagnosis I pray you can help me get that with the information I got.and Jerry did not tell me what he was going to do up front or what he was charging me. I just want fair treatment nothing more. I feel as a customer, I should have the right to decide what I want done to my van before someone works on it. Final Business Response

My car has a steering problem,Mr Jerry didn,t fix, I bought my own part,he say nothing is wrong with the rack she said I needed,he went wrong. On June 18, 2015 Mr Jerry at southern auto was suppose to put an rack and pion on my car he charged me $150.00 when I return to pick my car up my car had no power steering fluid in it I asked him why, he told me he ran and had order some but it didn't come in I told him I was going to get some then and when I returned to his shop he was gone my friend put the fluid in and it ran out, the next day I called him he told me to bring it back an he kept it for two days, when I picked it up I still had my rack problem,I went to Ideal tires for an alignment they said no because my rack was not installed or lined up properly an the alignment would not hold it took me until 9-18-2015 to get him to recheck my car he says nothing is wrong but it will not hold an alignment,my steering is still off, steering wheel won't line up or lock, I had an alignment done at another company just to see if I would hold and it did not, Mr Jerry get very ugly when he now you are right an he do a job that's right, I would like a refund.Desired SettlementI would like for him to refund my $150.00, because he didn't fix my problemBusiness Response Dear Revdex.com,On June 16th, 2015 a customer by the name of [redacted] came to my shop, Southern Auto and Electric, to obtain a request to work on her vehicle. She told me that she tried to get an alignment at Ideal Tires but the shop she went to said that they couldn't do it because the rack and pinion needed to be replaced first. She said that she already had her own part and would like to know if I could put that part on for her. I looked at the Rack and Pinion that she had with her and told her that the charge for the labor would we 150.00 plus tax. She agreed and signed an agreement acknowledging that she understood everything and released her car to my possession. The customer came to pick up her vehicle on June 17th, 2015. Before the vehicle left my property I had already assessed the power steering fluid and added as much was needed to the vehicle. I had added my last bottle to her vehicle, and let her know that I was not responsible for putting more in there. She had told me she and her boyfriend who was with her would retrieve some fluid and return to put it in the vehicle. My shop hours are clearly stated on my door to be 8am - 5pm. It was 7pm when she had left to retrieve the fluid. I left for the day after she left to get the fluid. On June 18th, 2015 Ms. [redacted] had called me while I was at the shop to let me know that her vehicles power steering fluid had run out again. I asked her to bring the vehicle back and that I would try and find the problem for her. She drove the vehicle here and left it for me to check it out. I had a few customers in front of her so I had to put it in the back and lock it up for the night till I could return and fix it in the morning. On June 19th, 2015 I returned to my shop and get her vehicle on my rack to find the problem. I saw that she had a power steering hose that had dry rotted and cracked and was now leaking. For the patience and good will of the customer, I replaced the hose at no extra charge to her. There was no leaking and refilled the power steering fluid reservoir back as needed. I let her know that her alignment was off and that she needed an alignment because that is one service I do not offer. She was elated to have her vehicle back and said that she would get the alignment that day. I had not spoken with her or had any issues or anything with Ms. [redacted] until September 21, 2015. She was really upset and told me that since I had put her rack and pinion on, that she had been to four different companies to get alignments and the alignment wouldn't hold up for no longer than two weeks. I told her I would check the car out once again, three months after the original service date, to see if I could find an actual problem with her vehicle. I took the vehicle back and assessed it for a problem, but I could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. I let Ms. [redacted] know that I could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. I let her know that if she had a problem with the rack and pinion, that she wouldn't be able to get the vehicle aligned at all and that there wasn't really much I could to in that time span. I asked her why she didn't bring me the vehicle back if there was a problem with the vehicle after the first attempt to get a wheel alignment. I told her that she would have to go and get a wheel alignment from somewhere else. I also let her know that in three months, I have no clue what has happened to her car and that the problem could be in the frame of the vehicle or anything. I let her know that I there was no warranty on parts that customers supply themselves. She then left and that was the end of it, or so I thought.Consumer Response Mr Jerry never told me I may have a problem with my frame he told me on 9-18-2015 that one inner tire rod end had more thread on it than the other one now why is that new inner tire rod ends came on the rack, and he didn't tell me my own part was not under warranty, he told me I needed a rack an pinion and I could order it off line from Rock Auto an it would be cheap, new and under warranty, and I never told him I took my car to 4 aligment places I only told him two Ideal Tires which they would not align it they told me to take it back to whom ever put the rack on an tell them to line it up straight, I tried callin Jerry several times but his sister and brother always told me he was under a car, I even went by his shop several time they aid he was busy or not there, I got tired of running him down, so I went to Well Auto they check me for an alignment they told me my rack was not on straight an if they gave my car an alignment it wouldn't last long and if I let them do it, it would be on me, I let them do it, because I had just put new tires on it an was trying to save them, the alignment lasted about 2-3 weeks I tried contacting Jerry again I left messages with his sister an brother but he never called me, I stop driving my car for a long time the way I caught up with Jerry I was on my way from work September 16,2015 caught him off guard an walked in his shop,he can not blame me for what he did or didn't do to my car if I had a dry rotted power steering hose fluid wasn't running out of it when I took it to him,I picked my car up at 7pm because he called me at 6.30, threw it all I paid him to fix my car , he did not fix it properly an I would like for him to refund my money.Final Business Response
