Southern Automotive Accessories, Inc. Reviews (1)

I purchased a DUC unit from Southern Automotive and the order was incorrect!I went to Southern Automotive back in October to purchase a DCU unit for my truck. I spoke with a lady named Ms. Tina. We initially agreed upon a standard black unit (No windows, Regular full lenght side doors, Passenger side tool box with the divider #9 for the tool box). I also asked her how much extra would it be if I purchased the Diaomd Tread DCU instead of the standard DCU and she said $700.00. I said I don't want it. The standard DCU in black was ordered 10/22/15. She could not find any pamphlets for those type units, so I came back Monday 10/26/15 and received a pamphlet. Looking through the pamphlet I saw that I could add assesories to the unit and so I called Ms. Tina on Tuesday 10/27/15 and added a 3FT rope light and asked again how much extra is the Diamond Tread. This time she said about $300 and I said ok I want it with everything else the same way as I ordered it. She said it is probably to late because they have cut the oringinal unit and once cut I cannot exchange. So I talked with the owner and he said the same thing and I asked for the number to call the company myself and they took the unit back with a restocking fee of about $350.00. The united came in about 3 weeks later and Ms. Tina called on a Monday or Tueday the 1st or 2nd week in November 2015 and said your unit is in and I said I will try to come later in the week to get it put on. But I will try to swing by today to look at it. She responded you don't have to come and look at it (weird response). So I make it later in the week and after about two hours of waiting they pull around and the DCU top is Aluminum not "Black" and the tool box #9 is the opposite (that's why I didn't have to come look at it). Of course they insist that I ordered Aluminum and the owner [redacted] said I didn't order the #9 box (He didn't take the order). I guess he looked at the receipt and saw that I did order the #9 tool box and said he would reorder it. He said I was stuck with an Aluminum topper of which I didn't order that color. Eventually The owner "[redacted]" called Rick's power coating and asked how much would he charge to power coat the topper black. The price, $400.00 but he is not paying for it; I would have to pay for it and take the topper to Rick's after I just spent $3200.00 on this topper. He eventually offered me a $100.00 but I had to pay the other $300.00. I said ok and Rick's power coating said they would take the topper off but when I arrived at Rick's place he said Chis did not say I (Rick) had to take off the plastic that hides the screws. So I called Chris the owner of Southern Automotives and Rick eplained it to him and I talked with Chris and he told me I would have to take everthing off and he has washed his hands with me and that topper. And so I told him just reorder my topper with the right tool box divider from the factory and he said no he would put in the tool box he ordered. So I said I am going t take him to court and he said he has his lawyers and hung up the phone. After spending $3200.00 for the the wrong color DCU topper and tool box divider and! I was willinig to work with Sothern Automotives by paying extra to have the topper power coated black and driving it to Rick's power coating, I would like for my money to be refunded!!! Thank You!Desired SettlementRefundBusiness Response Mr. [redacted] came into our office on October 22nd and I spent about 1.5 hours going over what he wanted in a New DCU unit, which I ordered that day. He proceeded to call every day several times a day asking different questions(he is a very in decisive person). Then on October 27th he called and wanted to add a rope light to his unit, I informed him of the upcharge amount and contacted the Manufacturer to have it added. The manufacturer said they were not sure if they could add said light as the unit was already in the build stage, but they would get with that department the following morning and let me know. About 4:45 that afternoon he called again and requested the unit be changed from a Black DCU to a Diamond DCU unit. I gave him an estimated difference in price and informed him I wasn't sure we could add the light because the unit was already in the build stage and was confident we could not change to a different unit all together as these are built to order and to the customers specifications. The Manufacturer was closed but I followed up with them, first thing on the 28th, and was informed that the unit could not be cancelled as the materials had already cut and the unit was in the process of being built. I then immediately contacted Mr. [redacted] and informed him of such. He was insistent on changing units, so he spoke to [redacted] (Vice President of Southern Automotive) and was informed that we could not change units, unless ARE agreed. Mr. [redacted] then requested ARE's contact information. He called and spoke to ARE and they agreed to allow him to change from a DCU to a Diamond DCU, as long has he agreed to pay a restocking fee of 25%,which he did. I informed him of their decision and he agreed to come in a leave an additional deposit to cover added cost and restocking fee. I went over the Diamond DCU specifications with him numerous times and asked him if he would like me to sit on the order for a few days to make sure that is what he wanted and he said no, place the order now. Which I did.. A Diamond DCU is just what the name implies, it is make of DIAMOND TREAD ALUMINUM. Mr. [redacted] had brochures and was on the manufacturers website multiple times, which plainly shows the material that the Diamond DCU is made of. He is the one who changed from a Black DCU to a DIAMOND DCU. The shelf inside the unit was set up incorrectly from the Manufacturer, which I have the correct replacement in for him @ no additional charge. Mr. [redacted] now wants something that is not available. [redacted], as a courtesy to the customer did offer to give him a $100.00 allowance toward the cost of having his unit powder coated by Rick's Powder Coating. We still have the correct shelf unit here to install for the customer @ no charge.. We have bent over backwards to work with this customer to no avail. He got exactly what he ordered (other than the shelf setup) and now is trying to change his mind a 3rd time. We are still willing to give him the $100.00 allowance toward powder coating, but that is the best we can do.
