Clayton looked at the car and saw that a new rear Converter had been installedThe stud on the bottom of the front converter had been broken off and there was a leak between the two convertersHe also noted that the check engine light was on and he get gather the Code that day but did not charge any feesHe then wrote the estimated for the repair of the exhaust leak or to replace the manifold converter because that was the Code he got from the scannerWhen the customer return was working in the shop that day and we did gather and document the Code as *** catalyst insufficient bank The rear converter which is not monitored and will not set a code was what had been replaced however the rear oxygen sensor was behind the exhaust leakThis Can Set a Converter codeThe leak needed to be sealed up to make Sure that the leak was not causing readingsassumed by the estimate being written both ways this was explained to the customer on the first visit, apparently it was notIt did indeed turn out to need the manifold converter to clear the lightWhen the customer called back on 8/20/| explained that I had assumed that it was explain in that way to him on the first visitthen explained that if he wanted to get the converter himself we would install it for him and credit back the labor we charged toward installing his converterWhen he returned he stated that he was having problems starting the car pumping the gas and jump startingWhen he returned on 9-1-there were additional codes in the computer that were not there on the other visitsThe addition codes were *** for the cam sensor/crank sensorThe customer was advised that he would need these parts also that this was not related to the converter problem, but was however a common problem with this vehicleWhen he brought in the converter to be installed he did not have the sensor advised him that the starting problem would not be resolved without replacing the other partsHe said he could notafford them at this timeWe installed his part and charged the balance of the labor for the converter after the credit for the previous workHe paid to have his part installedThis did resolve the *** code but not the starting problem related to the cam and Crank sensorsThis is when he decided to complain to Midas and the Revdex.com even though it was explained and documented on the invoice that this was another problemAfter one failed attempt to talk to *** *** I did talk to him on the second time calling after these complains, then explained that he would get the sensor we would install them for him at no charge to show him that we did diagnosis the car correctlyWe did this on 10/12/and as far as know the problem is resolvedAs for the fifty dollar diagnostic fee we do not apply that to the work and nobody ever told him we didThe price of the parts is not an issue, we all know he can purchase parts from the internet cheaper that it would cost in a retail or repair facilityeven had to look up the converter and show *** *** what to order for the converter which was not a problemI feel that we did not than any other repair facility would have done for this customer.Tony G
