Southern Construction of LA

Review: My husband and I went to Southern Construction (aka Heartland Homes) to build our home for us. It took them 2 years to complete the home. When they finally built the home we were told that we do not qualify for the full loan from the USDA. When we did qualify for the full price of the loan, they had not finished building the home. They got rid off the mortgage broker that we had been dealing with and gave it to someone else and know because of our new jobs we don't qualify for the full price. Now he want us to come out of pocket with a bunch of money so we can move into the house. Now he is telling us that we cannot not move into our home. They where suppose to fund the rest of the money because we did not want to go through with the home. They have not done anything that they were suppose to do in the contract. They are ripping their customers off and no one is doing anything about it.Desired Settlement: We want someone to expose Southern Construction for the crooks that they are. We want anyone else that they have done this to to come forward so we can do something to stop them. We want our home that was promised to us in our contract.

Review: I sign a contract on 9/4/13 with Heartland Construction/ Southern Construction for them to build a house and gave them a $1500 deposit. The contract was for a 6 month period. I spoke to [redacted] in October and was told by him that he would call me the next day. He did not call me back. I made several attempts to call him and finally reached him in March by calling him from my phone at work. He stated that he had plans to call me. During that conversation I informed him that I was not satisfied and requested that he return my deposit. Mr. [redacted] told me that he would draw up a cancelation contract and email it to me to arrange a time for me to come to the office to sign the contract. He did not call or email me. I have left several message for him to call me. He has not return any of my phone calls.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the $1500 I paid to the company.
