Southern Credit Recovery Inc

I was sent a letter from them in January 2016 saying I owed mo way to a hospital and to call them if this was inaccurate or to let them know the status. So I immediately called them to let them know my insurance just paid this claim and said the hospital should be getting the check. The lady told me she would call and see if they received the payment and if not she would let me know so I could take further action. I had not heard anything in 5 months so I assumed this was taken care of. But then I got a notification that my credit was hit by a collection agency. I checked my credit and it was for this claim. So I first called my insurance to make sure it was paid, then called the hospital to make sure they received the payment- all was a yes. So then I called SCR and they said it hadn't been reported to them but now that it has, they will cancel it. However, I asked when the last notice they sent or phone call they made was to try and let me know this was still outstanding and she said they didn't nor did they have to. I think this is incredibly irresponsible of a company that holds millions of people's credits in their hands. How do you go 5 months without letting me know you show I still owe money? I could have had this cleared up 4 months ago had you let me know. Instead, you tank my credit over something I do not even owe. This company should not be trusted with anyone's social security numbers or credit. They are irresponsible and do not take all precautions to avoid hitting your credit. Shame.

I noticed a $56 past due medical collection on my credit report. I have never received a bill from a doctor or any statement from Southern Credit Recovery that I owed it. I have tried to call them repeatedly and after talking to a receptionist, I am transferred to a hold line and eventually get a hang up dial tone. I am thinking this is a scam!
