Southern Home Building & Remodeling Reviews (2)

I have been attending the Marc Adams School of Woodworking since 2001. I am currently working on my Fellowship and have been a MASW Master Woodworker for quite sometime.

I know of no one who has ever complained about Marc, his staff, his instructors, or the food at the School. If there were a complaint it would be resolved quickly personally by Marc or one of the fulltime staff. These folks have a passion for woodworking and a desire to light that fire in others.

I have always found the School to be my adult summer camp. It is a save haven to recharge and to get motivated. This renewal of sprite is one of the primary reason for attending.

This is a skill building School. Even those courses that have projects are all about building your skill and confidence as a woodworker. It is those skills that will grant you the confidence needed to be successful as a woodworker.

Safety is rule one for Marc and his staff. No machine can be used without a safety review that is specific to each large power tool used. That will change the way you work wood. "Safety First" is an essential element in becoming a successful woodworker. Marc makes sure everyone knows and understand the safe operation of each machine and machining process. You will come to know the essential meaning of the 3 inch rule and other safety concepts.

New to woodworking, building you skills, a professional woodworker, come on to MASW. No skill level is too little or great because there are classes for everyone.

The instructors are top names in the business. You will be learning from the best. You meet, interact, and sometimes befriend your instructor, ultimately taking more than one class from you favorites. instructors.

There is the side benefit of being able to use machinery prior to purchasing you own large power tool. The staff will answer question about what you need in a personal shop and help you make decisions on what to purchase essential to your desired woodworking activity. Had I paid attention or asked I would likely have bought a band saw first. Marc or his staff will not recommend or endorse a brand and every machine in his shop he buys - no free machines for endorsement.

Review: 6 WEEKS AGO WE ARRANGED WITH MR ANTHONY AMMONS AND HIS COMPANY TO RESEAL OUR ROOF AND REFLASH THE CHIMNEY AND AFTER THAT JOB WAS COMPLETED TO INSTALL VINYL SIDING ON THE HOUSE. HE SAID THE ROOFING JOB WOULD TAKE 2-3 DAYS. WE SENT HIM 30% OF THE TOTAL BILL ($1800.00)WHICH HE CASHED IMMEDIATLY. HE PROMISED US FULL COMMUNICATION HOWEVER PLACED MULTIPLE PHONECALLS AND LEFT MESSAGES CONCERNING PROGRESS WHICH HE NEVER RETURNED. FINALLY REACHED HIM 2 WEEKS AGO WHERE HE INFORMS US THAT THE CHIMNEY IS DONE BUT THE ROOF STILL HAS NOT BEEN SEALED. WHEN I QUESTION HIS COMMITTMENT TO OUR PROJECT AND MY FRUSTRATION HE PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THAT I SHOULD FIND SOMEONE ELSE AND HE WILL RETURN THE REMAINDER OF OUR MONEY WHICH 2 WEEKS LATER HE STILL HAS NOT DONE.Desired Settlement: THE REMAINDER OF OUR INITIAL 30% DOWNPAYMENT

As soon as the weather is suitable, I will be back to do the cool seal. I will refund $300.00 over payment at that time.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mr. Ammons is a liar and a thief and his services are no longer desired. As I stated in the original complaint, after I had voiced my frustration to him about his commitment to our project he told us to find someone else to do the job and he would refund our money. Well...we have found another contractor to do the work and ironically he has already completed another job that Mr Ammons agreed to do and was partially paid for; regardless of the weather!!! What we desire is the return of the majority of our $1,800.00 down payment which we calculate at about $1,300.00 for work that he agreed to perform but was never provided.

We would like to thank you and your organization again for helping us resolve this matter.

Regards,
