Southern Illinois Appraisal

I'm not reviewing on the appraisal side of the business, I'm reviewing on the rental side of business. I've been renting from Mr. for 2 years now basically since I've lived in Marion, and let me tell you from what I thought was a good deal turned sour pretty quick, and yes this might follow through too well why dont you move, as most people in town know rent here is atrocious. So to start when we moved in the place was a mess, the main room carpet smelled horribly of cat urine and was supposed to be shampooed which never happened, there are still to this day hanging electrical wires in the living room, in one back bedroom the no electrical outlet works all that works is the light above, the dishwasher stopped working after 1 month of being here as well the garbage disposal, which incidentally all happened when all of the outlets on the front side of the house just stopped working for no reason. All of these things were told to him many times after they happened and nothing was ever done to fix it. There is also the issues that there is no internet hook up on the property to my apartment, which in illinois you have to by law provide some source of internet to connect to, and when asked when it would be fixed I was told I would have to buy the wire and find someone to hook it up. The worst thing that happened is this house sits in a major flood area for the city which we understand but nothing was done to the house to help with this so many flooding later, which if there wasnt a floor to stop the water it would be inside the house, my foot went through the bathroom floor next to the sink because of god knows how long the water had been pooled and stayed pooled underneath the house. So I fixed that out of pocket cost 600 dollars for an incredibly small bathroom. Now Marion requires every three years for a city inspector to come through the make sure everything is good with the rental properties, which happened in april- may of this year here. It requires the landlord or one of his representatives to be present for the inspection, which never happened until the forth time simply because no one ever showed. The city code enforcer showed every time, no landlord. On the forth time his rep showed, which he was marked for many things to fix, many things, and was given a set date to fix which was last month and its now almost June over and nothing has been done. Now just a day or two after the the code enforcer left with his list of stuff to fix I get a letter at the door from a lawyer. An eviction letter. No prior notice nothing, which is illegal in the state of IL but I digress. Of course nothing came of it but 2 weeks later my landlord comes to the door demands to be let inside and then when I finally have enough of his abuse and threats (threats to call cops, call dcfs, over my childrens plate of food on the table from lunch which I hadnt picked up yet which happened 30 minutes ago and its now 12:59) demands that if I have something to say to "Step Outside" which we all know means to get ready to fight. Now I didn't swing I held my composure, I handled threats, being called white trash etc etc but I'm not going to fight with my landlord. So I was told to leave several times. I think everyone can be in agreement that someone you rent to for 2 years has to have some sort of redeeming qualities as a tenant otherwise why would you continue to rent to them for so long. Its been made obvious to myself and my family that this is simply due to pressure and fines from the city to fix whats he suppose to be fixed and when asked why he hasent fixed anything his answer was simply it takes money. This man has made 15550 dollars from me over two years and hasn't put a red cent into fixing or upkeep on this property since we've been here and then when he gets hit for it is when its time for me to leave. I cant and wont speak for the appraisal side of the business it might be great, but the rental side which is done out of the same office is atrocious. The employees of Mr.s are great and wonderful people to talk to and work with, but the owner is an atrocious slumlord as I'm sure most people that rent from him could attest to.
