([redacted]) The purchase of our home from was not a good experience. We hired [redacted] part owner at Southern IL Realty
for help with purchasing a home. He was friends with my husband mother and was recommended
by her and also several of our friends. We found out later
that he told my mother-in-law numerous times about what houses we looked at
how much they cost and even told her that he thought we were in over our heads financially. There was no consumer confidentiality at all we had not told anyone that we were house looking. We also have a
very difficult time with getting responses from [redacted]. We would not hear from
him for several days at a time after asking him a question and we would have to
continually ask him for status updates on a contract that we had put on a
house. On more than one occasion we were completely ignored when we messaged
him with questions. When signing the contract [redacted] told us that we were
requesting for the seller to pay the closing costs. We initialed where we were
told and moved on with signing the contract.
Upon meeting with our bank to go over the closing statement, we were told that
we were responsible for all of the closing costs.  Confused, I text [redacted]
and asked him about it, remind him that we were told that we were asking the
seller to pay the closing costs.  After several days, I still did not
receive any communication from him at all.  I asked again and was told to
pull our copy of the contract, that we initialed, and that we would see that we
agreed to the seller paying 0 of the closing costs.  We did as we were
instructed and pulled our copy and the line that he referred us to was blank.
He told us that there was a 0 entered in that section.  We sent him
copies of our blank contract and told him that we believed that he made an
error on his side and forgot to fill that part out because it was left blank
when we signed.  He responded by telling us that he didn't appreciate us
accusing him of lying or breaking the law by filling in the blank space after
we left his office that day.  We asked him to make this right and he
refused.  We closed on the house and my husband's mom had a phone
conversation with [redacted], who agreed that things did not go well and told her
that he was willing to send us $500 to put towards the closing costs.  A
month later, we had not received the payment so I messaged [redacted] and asked for
status of the $500.  I got ignored. I feel like it's obvious that this was
his mistake.  The 0 had to have been filled out after we left his office,
since our contract shows that it was blank at the time.  The closing cost
was a lot more than $500 but we felt like he was trying to make things better
by at least offering us something so we were willing to accept the $500 and
move on from this. However,he did not follow through with his part of the deal.
Legally, we probably
do not have a leg to stand on getting any reimbursement, but it is the
principal of it that is not right. If this happened to us, it is probably
happening to other customers of [redacted]. It just not right! I am thinking very
seriously of contacting Illinois Realtors in Springfield about this situation
as deceptive practices such as this should be reported.11/21/17: (11:00 am) ([redacted])
I am really sorry that ([redacted] and [redacted]) are denying my allegations as false and
untrue. I do not think it speaks well for them or their business. Hopefully
this whole thing will make them better and more communicative with future
customers. I am going to discuss with my husband where we go from here if
anywhere. Thanks for your time and I’ll be on the lookout for a letter from the
Revdex.com in about two weeks.
