Southern Oak agreed to refund my $200 security deposit because they did not have a riding instructor available to us. No refund has been received.I signed my daughter up to take riding lessons at Southern Oak. We worked out a schedule with a particular instructor and then we were told we needed to submit a $200 security deposit. On August 23, 2014, we submitted the security deposit. On that same day, the instructor said she was leaving her employment with Southern Oak but that another riding instructor would take over. I exchanged emails with Southern Oak on August 26, 27, 28, 29, and September 2 trying to work out a new schedule for the riding lessons. The only day we were not available was Sundays and through the emails and phone calls, they were not able to provide a day for my daughter to take riding lessons. On September 10, I sent an email asking for my $200 deposit back. [redacted] of Southern Oak called me shortly after I sent that email and agreed to send my security deposit back. To date, I have not received my security deposit. I have called and emailed Southern Oak multiple times but have had no response.Desired SettlementAll I want is my $200.00 security deposit back. I think it is unconscionable for Southern Oak to keep this security deposit when my daughter has not taken a lesson with them since August 23 and they agreed to return this amount.Business Response I apologize for not getting the security deposit refund to [redacted] promptly. I require written notice of withdrawal from the program upon which a refund check is sent. [redacted] gave verbal notice so unfortunately it was overlooked. I have contacted her per text and will send check for security deposit balance in the amount of $197.50 tomorrow morning, Tuesday October 13, 2014.Consumer Response Why is the check for $197.50 and not for the full amount of $200.00?Final Business Response Please look at your statement. On 6-27-14 [redacted] took a private lesson at a charge of $52.50. Payment was received check #[redacted] in the amount of $50.00. A difference in the negative of $2.50, bringing the Security Deposit Balance due to $197.50 instead of $200.00.Consumer Response The check has been received. The matter has been resolved to my satisfaction.
