Review: Beginning in January 2015, my tank of propane was low and called for service. While waiting for service, the furnace would not stay lit. This caused the furnace to go out, leading to no heat in the house. I called Southern States to come to the house to either fix, clean or service the furnace. During this time and prior I constantly told them that I thought something was wrong with the tanks. I believed this because my propane was not sustaining and the gauge on one tank was broken/defective for over a year. They told me this had nothing to do with the way the propane was being dispensed. In the meantime, my water heater also went out and would not light. Because Southern States was not responding to my problem, I called in anoher HVAC company ([redacted]). After they came out I was told tha the regulator on the tank was broken and needed to be replaced, as there was not enough pressure to keep the tanks lit. I called Southern States about this and they told me they could not get out to the house for another week. At this time the temperature outside was between 25 and 40 degrees depending on the day. Ultimately, they came out as a courtesy to the representative at [redacted], but did not fix the problem at that time. Inadvertently the problem continued as [redacted] could not by law touch the property of Southern States. I ultimately moved out of my house for about 2 months or so because the problem was not fixed. Southern States finally came to my house the end of March to clean the system and told me that they had changed out the regulator prior. They told me at the time the furnace was cleaned that I needed more propane. I had paid them 600.00 plus dollars for propane (2 fillups), during the course of this problem and did not believe that my propane should have been used up since the furnace, water tank was not working and I was not living in the home. I shut the house down until I was able to switch companies, which I did in the middle of April. My system is working fine now with the new company, new tanks and water tank lit (only 2.5 years old). I believe Southern States was negligent in their care of a customer. Had no regard for my welfare or safety and constituted a breech in their contract to service my unit and to afford me heat during the coldest of months. I had talked to their manager a few tiimes during this event with no satisfaction. I also talked to their secretaries a number of time and even informed them that my grandson would be staying with me, and they did nothing. Unfortunately, my daughter had to make other plans. Before I switched my tanks, I called Southern States to speak to the manager ([redacted]), but was told that he was unavailale and I never received a call from him to this day, but they have picked up their tanks from my residence.Desired Settlement: I have paid for the propane they delivered to my home - $600.00 plus. I would like an apology and a waive of the fee of $125.00 I now owe them for the last service call at my home. I feel the money I gave them for propane was a waste and the added money I had to put out to stay with friends is criminal. I feel the inconvenience they caused me, which did not allow me to live in my house is worth that and more.
