First of all the person writing this complaint is the mother of the girl we really know. The Chevy Tahoe came to the body shop as an insurance contracted job. Being a friend of the family we saved her the deductible of 500$ and still help her out with money we saved on aftermarket parts ....

Everything was on schedule we had put up our money to get the job started and completed. 600$ was given to us only by [redacted] the daughter of the complainant and original insure of the contract by the insurance. The insurance directly mailed [redacted] the check with her name only on it. The check was for 2400$ +, we only charged her 1800$ for the whole job for being helpful. Since [redacted] cashed the insurance check and gave us 600$ That we had already spent, every other day often she would come to see the status of the Tahoe with shopping bags and new clothes. I thought to myself she has been splurging the money from insurance check plus the money we already saved and gave her. We continued to finish the job with our own money once again till completion. Upon completion [redacted] was fully satisfied with all the repair, replacing, and repainting that had been done to the Tahoe. The day [redacted] picked up the Tahoe, she had got dropped off and swore to get the rest of the balance of 1,200$ from her bank down the street. Well [redacted] never returned that day. I tried to continuously contact [redacted] for a couple of days. When I did talk to her she said she would return and not to worry. It had been already a week she kept on avoiding us. I filed a lien, got an affidavit and had the affidavit notarized for a recovery "repo". The recovery was successful having not [redacted] and her mother coming out with a handgun demanding the release of the Tahoe. When the Tahoe returned to the body shop, [redacted] showed up with a couple of guys. The gates were closed , we disputed and discussed about unpaid balance and reason for repo through the fence. [redacted] had obviously spent all the money or balance for the Tahoe from the insurance check. Cops were called, we were never in any wrong but only tried to help since day one. Then [redacted] mother a couple of days since the recovery tried to pay the balance with a cashier check. We demanded cash, cops were then called again. Officers explained to ms. Martinez to just pay balance and leave. The body shop finally received the existing balance in cash with police still around. We feel we have done nothing for these unnecessary problems but try to save and help. Thank you for giving me time to discuss what a body shop occasionally goes through when the insurance checks are directly paid out to the insure.
