Good afternoon,
As the owner and manager of SouthSide Storage, I personally assisted *** *** in the rental of a storage unitHe arrived at 1:15pm Nov 16, 2015, and was shown the specific storage unit he would occupyHe confirmed that
it would be sufficient for the things he personally would be storingHad he indicated he was renting the storage unit for a friend, we would have declined to rent to him as it is strictly against policy for tenants to store someone else's property
The lease was explained to him, and I offered to answer any questions or concernsHe declined the opportunity to read a copy of the leaseMr*** accepted the eSign lease and was emailed an electronic copyHe placed his lock on the unit and then left the facility
Mr*** called at 5pm the same day and indicated that his girlfriend decided she wanted to "stay closer to Duplin County" and that he would no longer need the storage unitI agreed to refund $($for Dec rent plus $5) even though I was under no obligation to do soMr*** returned two days later at closing time to collect the $refund and proceeded to berate me for minutes saying that I was "taking advantage of consumers." He had to be asked to leave several times even after being given a refundI do not appreciate the manner in which Mr*** spoke to me in front of my employees
I started this business in and have built a reputation in my community for being honest, caring, and compassionate towards my customersI would invite anyone to read our reviews on Google
The signed lease agreement states in two separate sections that no refunds are givenPlease see attached copyThere is a large 2'x5' sign explaining the main points of the lease prominently displayed at the mocounter as well

When I arrived at Southside Storage on 11-16-2015, I met the man whom I had talked to on the phone and an elderly woman carrying a babyWe went to see the 10' x 15' unitWhile we were inside the unit, the elderly woman asked me if the unit was big enough for all my furnitureAt this point, I told her the storage unit was actually for my girlfriend, who worked in Raleigh and went to school in DurhamHad she followed the rules of her own lease policy, I would not have been scammed out of my hard earned money and there would not be numerous complaints to follow this complaintShe violated her own policy for money and if there is a problem, she keeps a month's rentNo matter what happens, it is a win win situation for Southside Storage at the consumer's expense.When we went back to the office ,again, the elderly woman went on to explain in great detail, all the things a renter would need to know, except THE NO REFUND POLICYThe man did not, nor the elderly woman pull out a contract or lease for me to see and to read.They said just e-sign it and we will e-mail you a copy of the leaseThe first time and only time I ever saw the lease was on 12-10-thru the Revdex.com web siteI NEVER GOT THE E-SIGNED E-MAILED COPY OF THE LEASENOR DID I RECEIVE A RECEIPT FOR THE $I PAID SouthSide Storage for November and DecemberThey ,definitely, did not offer me an opportunity to read the lease,instead the man said that my old Toyota truck is still worth $12,After purchasing a lock for $and putting it on the unit, I left Southside StorageAbout an hour later, I spoke with my girlfriend about the unit
