Review: I purchased some semi truck tires at the end of last year. After consulting a business colleague of mine 2 days later about the tires purchased, I decided I no longer wanted these particular type of tires because they don't wear out even because he showed me a few different sets of those same tires on his trucks similar to mine. So I contacted the store manger I purchased the tires from and explained why I didn't want those particular type of tires now and asked him if they had been shipped to there store yet and he told me no. Then I asked [redacted] the store manger who sold me the tires if I could be refunded my money in full since there was NO restocking fee. I asked him if I could get a check for the full amount, not a in store credit on my account. [redacted] told me that wouldn't be a problem and would notify corporate to do so. After 3.5 weeks of not seeing a check I contacted [redacted] again to find out whom to contact at corporate to see if the check was sent out. [redacted] told me he had forgotten about it and had not informed them yet but would do so right away. I asked him to contact me back after he talked to them about when I could except to see my refund but he never did. After patiently waiting another 4 days I called [redacted] back and he told me I needed to talk to [redacted] about this matter. [redacted] told me there was no way his boss would issue me back a refund at all. In store credit only. I told [redacted] what [redacted] had told me over a few different conversations of refunding my money in a check form not a credit but that didn't seem to matter now after 45 days of the initial purchase.

I then decided to contact corporate directly since I felt like I was getting the run around from these characters. I first spoke to a [redacted] in accounts payable about the refund after giving her the invoice # on my paperwork which doesn't say anything on it about No refunding of purchases. [redacted] told me I needed to talk to [redacted] regarding this matter and took down my #. [redacted] actually contacted me back within a hour and I explained the entire chain of events to him regarding the entire matter but he told me he doesn't issue checks out to customers only in store credits. I explained to him that I had recently purchased different tires from another store and no longer would be needing $6,000.00 worth of tires within the next few years. I asked [redacted] his position with the company and he told me he was vice president. I asked him how I could get my money back sooner and his advice to me was find someone who needs some tires and resell them.Desired Settlement: I'd like for them to refund me the entire amount of purchase plus the finance charge of 1.5% from my initial request of refund back on 1/3/14.

Response:

I did indeed have a discussion with [redacted] on or around 2/16/2014. In that conversation I offered to allow [redacted] to return the tires that he had purchased at full price and, according to company policy, allow him to use this credit on future purchases from Southside Tire. This is and must be our policy on special orders. In order for Southside Tire to return these tires to Michelin, we will incur a 10% per tire restocking fee. In addition, we would have the responsibility of transporting these tires to the Michelin warehouse in Illinois at our cost. Mr. [redacted] did speak to the manager of the store. However, he was never told that he would get a monetary refund for the tires. Our manager, [redacted], did inform Mr. [redacted] that he would speak to the corporate office to see if a monetary refund was possible. Based on the costs involved, there are two options for Mr. [redacted] on the tires that were ordered at his request:
