Dear [redacted],   I apologize for the late response, and am not certain what happened to the first several letters of correspondence. I've looked up the information for the customer Mr. [redacted]. This customer's vehicle was towed from a commercial parking lot which is patrolled by a...

security company who is contracted by the management of said property The customer did explain that the vehicle was not in working conditions when left on property, however we are a third -party service provider. As a third party service provider we simply provided a service at the request of the security company. Unfortunately, for private property the California state vehicle states any vehicle towed is at the registered owners expense. The customer was aware of the charges prior to retrieving the vehicle, not to mention we did advise that his dispute would have to be with security becuase they were the party that authorized the tow. The customer has already been given the information to get a hold of the security and dispute his violation with the,  [redacted]Southside Towing

Review: On the morning of January 11th, my car was towed by this company. When I called to find out how much it was to get my car back, I was told that it would be $250.00. When I got the place to pick it up, I read the sign and saw that it was in fact $250.00 from the city I was being towed from. When I was told the charge would come out to be $350.00, I asked why that was when the sign in front of me obviously adds up to $250.00. I was told by [redacted] that the printer made a mistake and the cost is $350.00. I paid the fee just so I could get my car out and deal with it later since it was already the weekend and it couldn't be taken out until monday which would have increased the costs. On Saturday afternoon. I went back to the site located in Montclair, and the sign was then corrected to the "current" price. [redacted] had printed paper with the prices on top and taped it to the sign. I then called Southside towing and was told I had to speak to a manager on Monday. Called Monday to speak to a manager, but they were on their break so I spoke the guy on the phone who would not give me his name. Told him the situation and he said "You paid the fee, the problem has been fixed and that's that." Asked him when the manager would be back and he then told me he was the manager. I asked again when they came back and he said, "I don't know. In a half an hour, he's the manager." After that, we hung up. I called back to get his name and he hung up on me.It's not fair to have something advertised and charged another thing. Had the sign been corrected BEFORE I had gotten there, then ok. My question is why hadn't it been done when the mistake was first noticed?Desired Settlement: I would like at least my $100 back. The way they handled themselves was very unprofessional and I deserve at least that much.

Review: Dear Sir / Madam,

My car was towed in front of my apartment on wednesday night .I always leave parking permit either on dash board or hang it on mirror. I was sure that permit was on dashboard.

I went to tow yard to take my car on monday morning and I was expecting company to show my car's pictures not having the parking permit on it. They showed me photos of a similar car but licence plate was not identifiable. Pictures was taken at night and I could not even read one single digit so it was not clear if it was my car.

I talked to manager to explain issue and refuse to pay towing fee without seeing clear photos of my car . However he sent a young lady to take clear pictures of "windshield" and licence plate to use it as a proof.

Most probably they made the same mistake when they towed my car, They looked for a "sticker on windshield" and not for "pass sitting on dashboard."

I would like to ask for a refund since I was not able to clearly identify my car from photos taken on sunday "night". I still believe they either did not see parking pass or it fell off dashboard when tow truck moves my car.

I appreciate your time reading through my complaint.

Kind RegardsDesired Settlement: Refund of $240 to my credit card

Response:

On the date in question, our company was contacted by security, and were requested to respond to a call. The security company verified the violation prior to calling Southside Towing to the property to tow the vehicle. Upon arrival the driver made contact with the security guard, who clearly showed the driver which vehicle needed to be towed. Also, a violation notice was on the vehicle clearly showing the license plate number and description of vehicle. There will be no refund issued at this time seeing as Southside Towing was only called out to provide a service, and the correct vehicle was towed in accordance to the authorizing party which was the security company. Any further questions should be directed to the security company as they were the authorizing party, and should have a record of exactly which vehicle was to be towed. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Dear[redacted],

Review: On the evening of January 28 2015 my husband arrived home from work around six fifty pm.He parked in the fire lane to unload work items from his car.In our mobile home park you are allowed fifteen minutes to load and unload according to tbe park rules.James from southside towing was attempting to tow my husbands car that was parked for less than five minutes. He was outside close to the car.State law says if the owner is present the car must be released to the owner.James refused to release my husbands car.I contacted one of our park managers about this situation.Carolyn contacted southside towing to have James release the car.James broke California law by refusing to release the car.Desired Settlement: The owner of this company must know each complexes rules before towing cars. Please inform emoyees of California towing laws.Fire James as a tow truck driver he does not know the laws and was very rude to myself and my husband.
