Southwest Institute of Healing Arts Reviews (7)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

While SWIHA did contact me and [redacted] was very nice, I was not satisfied with the outcome. They offered me free schooling but after my experiences I would never attend SWIHA again. Unfortunately, their lack of professionalism and knowledge while I was enrolled made me lose the drive I had. I was told I could "reignite" that passion. I don't think so. SWIHA ruined that love and I have no desire to be in that field any longer. I don't feel SWIHA understands how I feel or what I went through over and over with their company. SWIHA is offering me free schooling because it wouldn't cost them much of anything. I feel instead of doing the right thing and refunding an extremely disappointed and constantly let down customer they are instead taking the easy road. They're telling me that the school is not currently in a position to offer a refund which is very insulting. Considering they have up to a thousand students at a time at roughly $10,000 - $18,000 a pop they are more than capable to refund someone who truly was treated very poorly and is no longer in the field due to their actions, or lack there of. I'm saddened to say that the owner [redacted] has now shown me her true colors in caring more for her pocket than her students.

Dear [redacted],We remain committed to our mission of helping you to

discover your gifts and supporting you to take them out onto the world in

loving and profitable way.  We remain absolutely confident you have the

opportunity to use your training as a massage therapist if you so choose. Sometimes when student loans become due there is a fear that surrounds the

repayment; more than ever this is when we invite graduates to audit classes and refresh their confidence.
We remain open to offering you an additional 200 hours of

training to give you yet another Certificate of Excellence to help you

maximize your past education and to help you integrate your gifts into the

world. Consider adding Life Coaching, Yoga Teacher Training or Holistic

Nutrition to your abilities.  We understand that there are times in life when we all

experience things that challenges us; it is moving through these challenges

that deepens our resolve and strengthens our character.  While we honor

you feel you experienced some challenges during your training, you were successful

in completing 1000 hours of training. Blessings as you continue to discover how you can best

discover how to utilize your gifts. I personally hope that you reach back out

to connect and take us up on some additional educational opportunities. Warmly ~[redacted]Dean of Students, on-campus

I attended this school and completed all my classes to graduate. after completion, they are charging me for classes that I didn't take. The administration division lacks in communication and doing their job. My advisor assisted in scheduling my classes 3 times in the 30 months that I attended. All other times, which were on avaerage 4 times that changes were needed, I personally had to review credits of classes and adjust them to my schedule and then submit to the school for final changes. As a student, this is not my job. And during the changes that I made, no one made me aware of wether or not a class was refundable or non refundable. NOr did anyone ever make me aware that if I dropped a class about any charges that would be applied. Highly disappointed in the way this school is run. I have spoke to many other students and I am not the first person that swiha has taken unnecessary money from.

I just completed the online courses for the Holistic Wellness Practicioner Diploma. The course work was amazing and the instructors were very knowledgeable, kind, and made sure each student got the most out of the experience. There were a few times I needed to postpone classes and reschedule, and the online student adviser was incredibly helpful and quick to respond and accommodate my needs. She helped me figure out the best schedule that would fit my home life. I am considering returning for another year to obtain a degree. Three cheers for SWIHA!!!

Went into massage clinic & school last week. First off my massage was awful, they lady would not focus on the areas I wanted to be massaged. I was in a room with other people nearby closed off by nothing but a thin curtain and the other client in there who was getting a massage was being soooo annoying & loud so I could not focus on my own. Then the area also was not the cleanest, the outside looks like something from the 90's. I would NOT RECOMMEND, ever going here.... EVER, you'll regret it!!! WASTE of Money & Time... Go to Massage Envy, at least they do what you ask & are clean...

Review: I attended SWIHA a few years ago and have always felt that the education I received was extremely lacking. I don’t feel it was worth what I am now paying in loans. I had issues with admissions advisors ensuring me all other colleges take their credits, I had issues with financial advisors forcing me to put my ex husbands income on my [redacted] application (when I actually didn’t have to) which cost me a ton of money in grants, I had issues with instructors constantly contradicting themselves and each other. I had an embarrassing moment with an instructor who commented on my weight and humiliated me in front of everyone in the class. After leaving SWIHA no one would hire me and said I wasn’t ready to be a therapist. However, I had raving reviews from SWIHA that I was great. I even was told by other therapists I know from working in a massage clinic prior to going to SWIHA that some employers won’t hire SWIHA students because of lack of education. After struggling financially and not landing an LMT job I had to get a job outside of the field so I could support myself. I lost all desire to be in the massage field and sold all of my equipment, nor did I renew my license. SWIHA took something that I really enjoyed before going there and made it something I don’t care for anymore. Then after writing an unfavorable review on [redacted] about my experiences I was contacted by [redacted] at SWIHA who said they would help me resolve all of this but then she stopped contacting me. I emailed her as well as called her and left messages with no response back. I then sent a certified letter to [redacted], the owner of SWIHA, detailing all of my experiences. This was delivered on August 12th, over a month ago and still no response from SWIHA or [redacted]. They’re clear avoidance of me shows the kind of company that they are. I have been nothing but professional and respectful. I even removed my [redacted] review in hopes they would turn this around after [redacted] contacted me. However, since my concerns and complaints are being ignored I will repost my review with a further update on being ignored. It’s clear that SWIHA only cares for the dollars going in their pockets. They only thing I want from SWIHA is a refund for the cost of the loans I now have from an education I never received or could ever use. Thank You.Desired Settlement: I'm only asking to be refunded for the amount they charged me which is now in student loans.
