Re: Complaint ID# ***To Whom It May Concern:This letter is in response to complaint ID #*** from *** ***Mrs*** was mailed a termination letter on August 15, for non-payment of her July 10th due date and her August 10th due date at this point Mrs*** owed $***
in water, sewer and late chargesThe due date for Mrs***'s termination notice was August 28,SPWA gives customers another week after the due date to try and collect payment before we physically go out to shut the water off.On September 6, Mrs***'s water was shut off for non- payment and the meter was wire tied at the turn on valve with a reading of (Mrs, *** lives in an apartment that only has one stop for four meters) Mrs*** is correct in the fact that she did have a water bill due on September 11, 2017, however this was her regular monthly bill(Customers receive bills monthly and are always due on the 10th of the month unless that is a holiday or weekend) and then after two months of non-payment they will get a termination noticePrior to the shut off on September 6, Mrs*** received two courtesy calls the first one on Friday, September 1, and the second one on Tuesday, September 5, Each call to Mrs*** did go through and was answered by a machine and was played backMrs*** claimed that we had the wrong phone number on her account, which we did updateWe did have the correct mailing address of *** *** *** ** *** ** ***I have enclosed a copy of the customers billing history and as you can see Mrs*** gets a termination notice quite frequently and is quite aware of how SPWA handles termination notices.I do want to point out that on September 12, we checked Mrs***'s account and it had a reading of which was gallons higher than the shut off readingA service order was created for our serviceman to go out and check the meterTo his findings the wire was cut and water was being used, the account was shut back off and double wire tired.The charges on Mrs***'s account are as follows and will stand she was not wrongly billed or mistreated.Termination Notice: $***.00Shut Off Service Charge: $**.00Turn On Service Charge: $**.00Tampering Fee: $***.00Remaining Water/Sewer Charges to Date: $***Total Charges to have water restored: $***I have also enclosed copies of our service orders, automated courtesy calls, and the termination notice.Please feel free to contact me at the above number, extension with any questions, or if you need further information.Yours Truly,Jamie M*** Office Manger
