In Response to the customer who file a complaint #[redacted] The customer came to us with a laptop computer that had been automatically upgraded to windows 10 by Microsoft. When customer came to us she stated that the system was not working properly she could not open anything and could not get on...
internet. We ran a diagnostics on the laptop and found that the operating system had become corrupted from windows 10 upgrade. We contacted her and let her know what we had found and that the system needed to be reloaded at which time I ask what operating system she had on system before. She told me that it was windows 7 so I explained that is what would be reinstalled. I could not recover any of the information from the system because of the operating system being corrupt. I reloaded the Window 7 on the laptop and everything was working fine when she picked up system we explained that the system would be doing updates when she restarted system. She came back stating that all her photos were gone and some was of her deceased husband. I told her that her system was corrupt there was nothing to recover. I told her at this time I could I would try to run forensic software we have to try to recover photos it may work or may not but I would not charge her for this because of the nature of the photos and it would take about 5 hours to run this. She said ok I told her I would place the file on her desktop because we do not look at photos we just try to save. I ran software it found over 7,000 files and I placed on her desktop. She came back next day and said the computer was doing updates and she could not open any of the photos. She stated that she had owned the system for over a year and had never seen it do updates and that she wanted half of her money back. System is working fine and we told her we would not refund her money she became very irate and said she was going to contact Revdex.com to report us. I do not know what we could have done to make her happy we normally charge $75.00 per hour to run forensic software this is all I could do to help her.
