In behalf of Sparks Taekwondo, I would like to explain this particular situation in our own perspective. The said client was recommended to our studio by a professional that works closely with one of his children. We were...

verbally informed, by the mother, that the child "might" be autistic. We wanted to help the child by improving his listening skills and challenging behavior, as requested by the parents. Prior to having them commit to a binding agreement, we recommended a 2 weeks (no obligation) trial period which they signed on October 7, 2015. After the trial period ended, the client decided to commit and signed a 1 year contract for their 2 children dated on October 26, 2015. As stated on their contract, they had 3 business days to cancel with no questions asked.
In regards to the complaint about the removal of tapes, the child was asked repeatedly to refrain from scratching the mats with his fingernails. This behavior, which began since the beginning of his enrollment, was causing disruption to the class. After several warnings that his tapes would be removed, he continued to do so. The purpose of temporarily removing the tapes was to teach him this behavior is not acceptable. As a martial arts studio, we are here to teach the basic principles of taekwondo, and we emphasize on discipline.
We offer different types of programs to accommodate all ages and levels. In particular, we have a class for 3-5 year olds and classes for older children. We try to accommodate everyone as much as possible, but will also consider our other students involved. In response to the complaint about the schedule change, it is displayed at the studio that the schedule is subject to change. We gave all families two months advanced notice and reminded them often of the upcoming change. We accommodated this family by allowing the child to attend one of the older sibling's Wednesday classes, in addition to his Tuesday and Thursday classes, which gave him a total of 3 classes instead of the regular 2 classes. This was taken advantage of and the child attended his classes and both of his sibling's classes. The following week the child attempted to show up again to the wrong Monday class. Before entering the class, we discretely walked the child outside to where both his parents were. I again explained to his mother that he attended the wrong Monday class and as previously discussed, he can attend his regular 2 classes in addition to an extra Wednesday class. It was also explained to the parents that their son was not ready for the level of difficulty of the Monday class.
We at Sparks Taekwondo take pride in our studio and our students. We feel that we have gone above and beyond to accommodate this special situation. After participating in the 2 weeks trial period, the terms of the signed one year agreement and the 3 day cancellation was explained. Therefore, there are no bounds for dismissal of the contract.
