Specialty Auto Sales Reviews (13)

Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee here about 4 months ago. [redacted] and the guys and fantastic to work with. I had a manufacturer defect with a part (no fault of Specialty Auto) and they not got it completely replaced cost free but one of the mechanics drove me to work because I didn't have a ride. I was so impressed I referred this place to my parents and my mom just bought a Chevy Equinox today from there. I will keep going back when I need a vehicle.

I came into Specialty Auto sales after looking for a decent vehicle with my tax return for over two days, and [redacted] helped out a lot. He allowed me to test drive any vehicle I so desired and after looking at my current car and taking it for a test drive, I decided I wanted it. [redacted] gave me a great deal off the lot for the car, he was generous and willing to work with me on price, he also was very professional and courteous. I recommend Specialty Auto Sales and [redacted] to anyone who is looking for a great car at an affordable price.

Review: Test drove the Jeep on 10-19-13 it was just brought in and [redacted] said that he didn't have a chance to go through it yet. He said he knew it needed a new muffler & windshield for sure and would take care of anything else that he found. We brought up 2 concerns muffler and it was making a grinding noise in the front end. So we trusted him thinking that he would take care of anything that he found. He was very understanding with us since we had to wait for our funding to come through so we didn't pick it up until 11-7-13. Thinking that he has went through the entire Jeep we didn't have anything to worry about. Well that's not the case...found fog light was broke not just cracked...we took it for a ride before we handed over the money and it was still loud and the noise was still in the front end. We talked to him about this and he said the noise in the front was air in the brakes....and it was normal for that type of Jeep to be loud..so we went to a Jeep dealer and they informed us that there is a special muffler for that Jeep the one that is on there is too small. [redacted] said he would add a second muffler to quite it down but we would have to pay add'l money for a problem that was there to start with. When backing out of the lot we noticed that the brake light was out so they changed that...but [redacted] was in such a hurry to get out of there to get to the bank he left...it turned out to be something else so they ordered the right part..went on monday 11-11-13 to get it changed and they cracked the tail light....it wasn't broke until after I left..just really unhappy with the entire experience...So now we are taking it somewhere else and get it fixed correctly so now we are looking at spending more money for stuff that should have been taken care of the first time. Then he tells us we should have brought up the concerns before...foolish us we trusted himDesired Settlement: Since we have to get this fixed we want some money back--charged us a $200 service fee without explaining

Please keep in mind that I held the Jeep for a significant amount of

time for you while you debated your purchase. You deposited $100; for

that amount, I would typically only hold the car for a few days. During

the four-week gap, from deposit to purchase, you had ample time to raise

any additional concerns in regards to this vehicle.

The facts:

1. The muffler was replaced, as promised, with an

OEM-grade part, meaning that the industry has approved the muffler to

meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer specifications. Please

keep in mind that the motor is a high-output V8 designed specifically

for more towing power. The nature of this engineering is going to be

more audible than a touring model. Any other dealer trying to tell you this is not the right part is just trying to get your business. I have the receipt from [redacted] showing the muffler that was installed was specifically for a that Jeep.

Review: Bought a 2011 mistibishi lancer evo and a week later the engine over heated. Had it towed back to specialty auto and we waited 3 days for them to even look at it. After three days we found out that the water pump had to be replaced, once replaced they found out that the head gasket blew. We questioned the factory warranty once received in the mail and talked to a mistibishi car dealership and they ran the vin number. Then I found out it was a salvaged title due to flood damage. This was never disclosed with me before I bought the vehicle, having known this I would of never purchased the vehicle.Desired Settlement: Refund for the full of amount of the entire loan to the bank.

Response:

To resolve this complaint, I will offer to fix and repair the Evo at NO cost to the customer. If it is okay with them. I have given them a loaner and will only need the vehicle for 1.5 weeks to complete the job.

Review: We called Specialty Auto on 10/20 to schedule an appointment for a coolant leak on our BMW X5. [redacted], scheduled us for 10/23. After several weeks at Specialty Auto with very little movement or updates we picked our SUV up on Thursday, 11/6. The cost included gaskets and labor. Total cost was $415.67. My husband drove the car to work on 11/7. Upon arriving at work he texted me that the coolant was still leaking. We dropped the BMW back on Monday, 11/10 before Specialty Auto opened. We left a note and the keys in their drop box at approximately 7:30 AM. Later that morning my husband called to check in and make sure they saw the note and the car. They said they would look at it that week. After watching our vehicle sit in the same spot for over a week we picked it up on 11/19. [redacted] said he had some techs quit and they just couldn't get to it.

On Friday, 11/21, I schedule an appointment with [redacted]. They booked us for Monday, 11/24, morning. We dropped the car off this morning at 7:30. Around 10:30 they called my husband to state that they would need to order a pump and gaskets. This is the same work that Specialty Auto claimed they completed and charged us for. Our quote for the repairs at the new shop are $588.00.Desired Settlement: We want a full refund of the $415.67 plus any incurred interest. We prefer the reimbursement to be in the next 5 business days to avoid interest and to cover the costs of our new repairs.

We also recommend the good rating wtih the Revdex.com be revoked.

Hello [redacted],

Was looking at getting an older VW since they are quite rare due to the high demand. I purchased a fully loaded 2009 VW Passat Komfort from this dealership on St. Patrick's Day. The car was supposedly inspected and had a clean CarFax. Less than 4 hours after taking delivery of the car, the engine light came on. Oil was leaking from under the car, and it smelled like something was burning. Took the car back the same night, after hours. Just how I wanted to spend my St. Patrick's Day. They would not let me out of the deal, which was to be expected. Turns out they needed to replace the PCV Valve and rear main seal. Hmm, how could they miss that so quickly after the sale? So they kept the Passat for 3.5 days and I got it back the following week. Decided to take it on a test drive after the "fix". What a mistake that was. The engine light came back on, and the car was almost seizuring down the road. Firstly, the receptionist (Scott?) at the time told me that the mechanic was declining responsibility because it had ran fine earlier that day. Really? After I brought up the fact numerous times that I had only been gone 10 minutes maximum, the actual excuse finally surfaced. The mechanic (Nick) had attempted to replace the ignition coils, but did not replace them all. Why have someone working on import cars that doesn't know what he's doing?? Instead of towing it back to service and saving the engine strain, I was commanded to drive it back to the dealership or pay out of pocket to have it towed. Limped it back, after 5+ phone calls back and forth over the course of 45 minutes. Ridiculous. Add in another full day without the car. The dealership paid for all the cost, so that was the only saving grace. I was actually going to give them a 3/10 for that reason. However, I now discovered that the car now has a transmission leak. Not going back to them. Please people, do not purchase from this group. I NEVER once even got a simple thank you for my purchase, even before all these issues. No follow-up calls or anything. Besides that, I NEVER once was "allowed" to speak to Brandon (hidden owner) until the very last day when the ignition coils failed, despite my repeated requests. He "was out of town and the employees were just super stressed out". What kind of dealership sells and provides service like this? I already traded off this car after owning it a little over a month. Horrible customer service and even worse product.

I had nothing but the best service from all I worked with at Specialty. They made car buying fun and easy with the best selection I've found in the Green Bay area.

Great customer service, very friendly, honest price, I would buy another car from here.

Review: It was difficult to pick a primary complaint - it has been a terrible experience on multiple levels.

On April 27 my daughter purchased her first car (used) from Specialty Auto Sales in [redacted].

On her drive home the engine light came on.

When I saw the car that evening, I discovered the following problems (and I'm sure there are more) not disclosed on the window sticker:

• horn not working

• front driver side blinker not working

• CD player not working

• a partial attached rear deck spoiler (imagine that coming off the car in traffic)

The dealer said they'd take care of the engine light and the warranty items.

My daughter immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day, April 28. When they realized all the issues they said it would have to wait until Thursday. She called to check progress Thursday afternoon and was told they were doing an estimate "right now." I called later that same day as well and I was told they couldn't get to it until Monday May 1. Monday has come and gone and still nothing.

One final issue, the fan in the cabin does not work - so no air, heat, defrost. She had relied on the salesman and business to be trustworthy, honest and straight forward, selling her a car in good working order. Yes, this problem was "disclosed" on the sticker as “fan inop,” but would it have been so difficult for the salesman to review this point?

I am upset about the nature of this transaction. I feel it was deceptive. She is young, female and naive. Clearly, she was taken advantage of by the salesman. This is what bothers me the most. And trying to get any service after the sale has been impossible. I sent three emails to the owner- and finally got an acknowledgment from the owner on the third try.

Now I am afraid if they do work on the car, it will be a poor job.

They have had the car for over a week and have yet to touch it.Desired Settlement: We have been patient. They should have made it a priority to correct these problems. It appears they do not want to.

They mislead a customer, outright lied to a customer, put off making repairs for over a week. I do not trust them or anything they say. The only safe outcome is for them to take this car back. If they won't do that, at the very least they should cover all expenses to make it a safe car. But like I said, their actions have caused me to believe they cannot be trusted.

On Mon, Jun 8, 2015 at 7:25 PM, [redacted] wrote:Hi,

Both the owner and the shop guy I met were very pleasant to deal with and made everything a seamless process. After I took a test drive of a vehicle I wanted to purchase, I smelled an oil scent throughout the car. Once I expressed my concern to them, they immediately fixed the problem and the smell was gone within a day. Overall, very trustworthy dealership and I would go back to them again.

I originally heard about specialty auto from a coworker of mine that had them do some work on his car. He was happy with the work and felt they gave him a good price. 6 days before Christmas I had the intake manifold crack and flood the engine. I towed it there on Wednesday night and was able to pick it up on Friday. Price was better than I thought it was going to be and I know they were very thorough with the repair. Haven't had any issues with it since. Very good and knowledgeable people to deal with. I will be bringing my other vehicle there this week for tires, struts and ball joints. Their quote came in under the others I checked.

Would definitely recommend getting tire prices from them, they beat the online prices I was looking at.

I began having issues with my car and called Specialty Auto to get a quote on a diagnostics test. They told me $25 on the phone but when I brought it there they told me it would be $ 80/hour with a minimum of $40. They said they would honor the price for the first half hour but they didn't. It cost $200 to find out my car possibly had a bad cam sensor, I was already aware of this when I brought it in. They quoted me $400 in labor to replace this part, claiming they would have to take apart my timing belt to do so. My regular mechanic said there is no reason they should have to touch that, and quoted me half that in parts and labor. At the time I brought it in it still ran, although poorly. When I came to tow it away, it bucked and shook and wouldn't even start. The cover for the timing belt was in my front seat and I'm convinced they were taking apart things they didn't need to for a diagnostics test. They also claimed they drove it several times to run tests but the odometer reading was only 1 mile higher than when I brought it in. At the end of the day, I feel that I paid $200 for them to do more harm to my vehicle.

I brought my car from Specialty Auto Sales with new tires on it. Even a year later with running over nails and puncturing 2 tires, the owner took care of me and didn't charge me anything to fix my vehicle. These are the best group of guys I've ever worked with. They stand behind their vehicles and I would not hesitate one bit to buy another.
