Specialty Home Products Reviews (4)

Review: we are selling our home. Buyers wanted Specialty home to fix. We received a contract to have repairs made. We agreed to pay for the repairs. 2 times I called to set up a time. 3rd time I call I was told "they will do it in between jobs on their time". (didn't think that was right). On Thursday sept 4th a white truck pulled up and a man got out and went to our roof and set ladder against house. No indication that he was from Specialty Home. I asked him if he was there to fix the roof. He said yes. 12 mins later he was done. My husband went out and asked if he was done, he said "yes 7 screws and it was easy you could have done it." then he left. We were concerned with the $325 being charged for 12 mins of work so I called and was transferred to billing. I told her I was wondering if we were going to be charged the $325. she said she would have to talk with [redacted]. about 30 mins later the roofer came back went to the back of the house and proceeded to get up on the roof. without letting us know he was back. we spoke with him and he said [redacted] called him to come back and finish the Job. I called the office and spoke to the biller. I told her that I felt like they were being dishonest. She didn't agree with me. She argued with me saying she didn't say anything to anyone about our conversation and "maybe the roofer wasn't finished" I feel like if I didn't say anything then the Full Job would not have been done. I then received a bill in the mail for the $325Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] to call me. I would like to explain my self and feel like the $325 is over charge for the type of service that was preformed. Maybe this will help with future customers experiences and learn from past mishaps.

Response:

On August 22, 2014 I ([redacted]) was contacted by [redacted] (the buyer's of the property) and asked to come out to Post Falls to inspect some roof issues on a home they had made an offer on. While I was out there I diagnosed the problem and let the buyers know that the repairs would fall under our minimum charge of $300. At that time the buyers informed me that they had contacted other roofing contractors who were charging more for there minimum charge and were not willing to come out to look at the project on a moments notice as I did. After agreeing to the price the buyers called back and asked that we install a new pipe cap on there natural gas exhaust at which time I agreed to do so for an additional $25.

I sent my employee out to the home on September 4th, 2014 to make the repairs. He went to the back of the house and spent about 20 minutes repairing only a portion of what was supposed to be repaired. My office received a phone call from the seller explaining that he was only at the jobsite for 12 minutes and she didn't feel that the $325 charge was warranted. I immediately knew that my employee did not understand exactly what was supposed to be done on the repair so I called him up and sent him back out to the job. He finished the repair, and I mailed the seller the bill.

Since receiving the complaint I've explained to that employee the importance of 1. Letting the homeowner know who you are, why you are at there home and who you work for. 2. If the work order is not clear to make sure to call the salesperson who wrote up the work order and ask that they clarify all that is needed to make the needed repairs.

We've been in business for 35 years and I honestly don't remember receiving a complaint to the Revdex.com from a customer. Our rating at the Revdex.com has been A+ for as long as I can remember. The fact that the seller is insinuating that we/I was trying pull something over on her is insulting.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I only explained my side of the story in concern to a business owner knowing how a customers point of view on the situation can leave a poor referl source for you. I'm glad that my view was reviewed and only hope that it will improve your companies customer service reputation. I was not given any acknowledgement when I called in concern and was only sent the bill with nothing else on the invoice. Check is in the mail. Thank you

Regards,

We've used Specialty for a number of projects. Windows, doors and a new roof. They do exceptional work at a very competitive price. Our roof was replaced several years ago after a particularly heavy winter. We weren't home to see the work, but our neighbor, a retired engineer, remarked how careful and diligent they were. I would recommend them to friends or family without hesitation.

My husband and I would recommend this company to anyone wanting new doors and windows. The installers were courteous, professional and extremely hard working. Ours was not your typical house. It was a challenge and they went above and beyond to make sure every window and door fit. We were also pleased with whole cost. Very affordable.

Review: Lack of job completion correctly. Lack of communication. Lack of coming to the job at an appointment time. Charging for a job that was not completed.Desired Settlement: As stated. A refund.

Response:

Contractor failed to keep appointment. Window installation with molding is incorrect. Contractor failed to make another appointment. Previous window installations were unfinished and we were billed to finish the installation correctly.
