Dr. Margaret L is a new Dr at this office. I went in for an annual checkup. During the routine exam, I mentioned that I had some random itchiness and puffiness on my palm at night. We talked about it and she suggested that it could be my diet of too much sodium. I told her that I will take better care of my food intake, as I'm very health conscious.
When I received a bill for the lab work, which is usually fully covered by the insurance, but was not this time. My insurance told me that it was not coded as a routine exam. I called the Dr's office and asked for clarification and was told that the thyroid test done was for the itchy palm diagnose. My thyroid is NOT why I had itchy palm. I have had thyroid 20 years ago and my doctor would randomly test it for any reoccurring issues. Her office will not be reasonable about this when I made the request to speak to the Dr, who won't return my call regarding this misinformation.
Billing Adjustment I would like this office to code the billing for this visit as an annual screening and to correct their misinformation on my health record. My thyroid screening is not a result of my itchy palm. If Dr. L feels that she is right, I would like to speak to her supervisor regarding this misdiagnose.
