After careful consideration an an extensive investigation into this claim, Speed Oil Change Center has concluded that we are not at fault for the damages to MrMoriarty's Chevy Aveo Overflow Coolant Tank CapWhen this vehicle first came to us on 11/30/2015, the coolant level was ALREADY LOW,
so we topped off the coolant during our serviceThe customer came back the same day to have the coolant filled AGAIN, as the level had dropped off againThis in itself shows that there was an preexisting issue of the coolant leaking from "somewhere" within the vehicle prior to our serviceThe customer drove for another week and almost miles extra before taking their vehicle to Berkeley Auto CareIf the coolant system had indeed been grossly overfilled, the entire system would have been leaking from other parts of the systemIf the Overflow Tank Cap was "SO BADLY AND CLEARLY DAMAGED" then WHY DID The technicians at Berkeley Auto Care go as far as to service the customers vehicle with a coolant flush to "alleviate the problem" of a busted cap? Why FLUSH AND FILL SOMETHING that you KNOW WILL LEAK? The mechanics at Berkeley Auto Care so helpfully noted that they "found coolant very diluted with water", after THEY had serviced the vehicles cooling system with a DRAIN AND FLUSH, so the "diluted with water" condition of the coolant has nothing to do with the FACT THAT OUR COOLANT IS PREMIXED IN BULK BEFORE IT EVER REACHES OUR DOORS by a reputable company that will verify their coolant quality and delivery systems on our behalf.Furthermore, Speed Oil Change Center spoke with a Service Advisor named Matthew, from Fremont Chevy, over the phone and when we asked him detailed questions about the Chevy Aveo and the vehicles Overflow Tank Cap, he immediately answered that the problem of leaking caps come with wear and tear and not necessarily being handled improperly at some point and timeHe told us that the caps were indeed based on a pressure system, but made from plastic that would eventually wear outAlthough MrMoriarty's vehicle has very low mileage, it is still years old, and wear and tear with automobile parts is not an exact science when it comes to determining when certain parts will wear faster than others.As a reasonable business owner and operator, Speed Oil Change Center will gladly refund MrMoriarty for his Oil Change and Oil Filter change of $This refund IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM is us taking on responsibility for the damages to the cap for his vehicleWe firmly believe that we are not responsible for the damages that he and Berkeley Auto Care are recklessly blaming us forThere is no fundamental proof that we damaged anything on his vehicleHe came in with low coolant initially, and with our service we filled it for himWe cannot be responsible for telling him the condition of his vehicles Overflow Tank Cap, unless it was grossly damagedThe damages EVEN ACCORDING TO Berkeley Auto Care were so inapparent that they went as far as to flush and fill his coolant system to "resolve" the issue of a mysterious leakIf the Cap was so clearly damaged, then why not just replace the cap and call it a day? Speed Oil Change Center will reimburse MrMoriarty for the $he spent on his oil change with us, if he agrees that we did nothing to damage his vehicleWe will be reimbursing him this amount of $as a sign of good faith for keeping him as a valued customer and for him enduring the manipulation of the mechanics at Berkeley Auto CareIf this is not something he want to agree to, we will gladly meet him in small claims court to prove our pointWe have all the technical documentation ready and available to argue our innocence in this fraudulent case
