I hand delivered the following memo to Mr. [redacted]'s mailbox on 9-21-2017Mr. [redacted]:Thank you for bringing me up to date with the situation regarding your Sienna and the challenge we have encountered in getting the issue with you’re A/C / Heater system corrected.  Your memo arrived yesterday...

while I was away and I opened it and addressed the issues regarding your vehicle immediately.  By the way, I was not aware that you were waiting for a call from me.First, I discussed the situation with [redacted] to find out why we are in this situation and were we stood with this situation at this time.  He brought me up to date with the details and your memo accurately describes what has happened.  He also advised me that because of the delays that Toyota has placed in our way, he has only charged you for our cost of the blower motor replacement part absent of any labor charges or our standard list charge.  He did this because he felt we should do something for you because of the delays.I personally went to Toyota and spent over an hour with them to research what part it is going to take to correct this situation.  We did come up with a resolution for the problem.  According to them, the correct part which should have been sent to us the first time, will arrive to us tomorrow morning the 22nd.  Once it arrives, I will inspect it to see if I agree that it is the correct part and I will contact you to arrange for a time to install it.Assuming that the part Toyota will deliver to us tomorrow is the correct one, it will cost me $93.37.  Because of the situation, I will sell it to you for that price.  Additionally, I would like you to pay [redacted] for one hour labor for the work he has done on your vehicle which is $90 and a token amount considering the time he has spent installing the blower motor and the time he will spend to install the resistor/controller.  Of course, all of this is assuming that Toyota has identified and will deliver the correct part this time. I have great hopes that the above is satisfactory to you in resolving your vehicle’s problem.  Please understand that I can’t avoid ignorance from my suppliers, all I can do is the best I can to work with them to get what is needed to correct the problem.I do apologize for the poor communications within this company that increased the delays that you have been subjected to.  If I had been brought into the situation sooner, this could have been corrected with less delay.  Sincerely [redacted]

Review: Got car checked for "check engine light" on. They worked on it for 2 and one half hours. Did not have time to finish it. I was charged a diagnostic fee, minus $10 for not finishing. The company told me to bring the car back before I needed my next smog test so they could finish the job, and they would not charge me another diagnostic. I called on the 19th and they told me to bring it in to finish the job. When I got there they said they couldn't be sure I had been there before and paid, they had no record of my car in the computer. I showed them the work order. Still they couldn't find it in their computer. I told them they had for some strange reason put the work on this car on my other car's bill- (I was getting an oil change on that car.) I questioned at the time why they were putting the work from the diagnostic on the wrong car and they said something about paying together. Still they couldn't find anything in the computer on that car either. They said they'd have to charge me another diagnostic. I told them that's not what the mechanic told me at the time. And all the notes were on my receipts. They said they couldn't believe I even paid. I went home, got both receipts and called and asked to speak to the owner about this. I was told he wasn't there. I called four or five times and one time they told me the owner was on his way over to the phone and I said OK thanks I'll wait for him and then they hung up on me. They hung up on me three times after I asked for the owner and identified myself. The last time I called the person who answered said I couldn't talk to the owner anyway, I'd have to deal with the manager. The manager was the one who told me he couldn't find any record of me and he would be charging me another diagnostic fee, so I felt I had already tried talking to him, to no avail.

At this point, I would not trust them to work on my car, so I would like my $80 diagnostic fee back, because they are not honoring what they said about not charging me a further diagnostic fee. I will have to start all over again with another company and be charged a whole new diagnostic fee, so that $80 will help defray that cost. I have all my receipts and work order.Desired Settlement: I would like my $80 diagnostic fee back.

Thank you again!!

Review: I brought my car to be smogged. It's a diesel and failed "visual inspection." They offered to fix it, but my car doesn't even have that part.

On 11/22/2013, I brought my Mercedes to be smogged. It's a diesel and failed "visual inspection" the guy said it needed a particular part that he could get from Mercedes and it would only be another $166 plus a $25 retest. My car had to go to Mercedes today and I asked them about the part and the smog. The part that was needed, my car doesn't have one. It passed smog at Mercedes without any addional repairs. The guys here were just trying to squeeze extra money out of me and assumed I wouldn't know any better.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for my "failed" smog. It was $50.00 and I ended up paying to have it smogged again, by a reputable company.

Initial Business Response

Mrs. [redacted] came in on 11/22/2013. Her car failed visual for the crankcase vapor hose known by dealer as dirty air hose. Due to having a defective crack at the connection to valve cover. The other end of hose is fine, connected to intake tube snorkel. Crack was severe enough to loose crank case vapor seal, causing oil to blow on to valve cover area. saturating the area on and around the defective rubber hose connection. we advised the customer of visual failure due to emissions leaking into atmosphere. The system was no longer sealed, causing a visual failure. We contaced the manufacture for price and availability of part. The part was available and we ordered it. The technician took a picture and showed the customer the defective part and advised her that it was available from the manufacture. THis upset the customer, claiming that she was going to have it service at the dealer in the near future and would rather they replace it while servicing it for major service. We notified the dealer that we would not need the part and informed them the car would be coming to them. They saw an appointment for her car and said they would install it on her car. We still have the photos of her car along with the tag to identify that it is her car. In the photos you can see the crack in the hose. Im sure there is now a new hose in its place allowing it to pass smog. Our smog tech performend his job to the letter of the law. If the same hose is still on there then the car was passed illegally by the dealer. Either way we would be more than happy to get an independent third party involved to show that we did our job correctly. At no time did Mrs. [redacted] notify us that she was unhappy. If she had called us , we would have been more than happy to show her everything under the hood. For her to say the part does not exist is false and she needs to get the facts strait. We have the techs documentation and photos to back up our actions. We dont look for areas to "squeeze" extra money from our customers. This is a slap in the face and a misunderstanding on her part.
