Review: I brought my car in for an oil change and mentioned that my car was sometimes low on oil. Upon checking the car, I was told by the service rep that I had a major oil leak that was causing the car to be low on oil. The repair was expensive, the the service rep told me it needed to be repaired and told me that this would solve my problem. I was also told that all work is guaranteed and that they stand behind their service. After spending a large sum of money on the repair, I had to bring my car back a week later because the low oil indicator came on. When I brought the car back, I was told the even though I was quoted for a replacement oil sensor they decided not to replace it because sometimes they can just clean them. In my case however, the cleaning did not work and they told me they could now replace it for me but it would cost me extra labor and of course the part. At any rate, I was told that the car was fine as ALL the leaks were fixed, it was just the light that was bad. Now, approx. 5 months later, my car is still leaking oil-the problem they were supposed to fix originally, but they claim that even though they knew about the leaks before giving me the car back, since they did not bother to fix all the existing leaks they cannot guarantee them. When I dropped off the car I was lead to believe they were fixing all the leaks, not just selecting which leaks to fix. They are dishonest and their staff is arrogant and condescending.

Product_Or_Service: Repair

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

As I was mislead in the beginning they should now fix the car properly, which they are refusing to do. If they will not stand behind their work as they promised, I should get a refund for the repair as it was not performed.

Customer came in for a "First Time Oil Change Special".

Upon arrival inspection, we found major oil leaks, suspension safety issues and brake safety issues. We advised the customer that the vehicle needed a lot of work. Customer declined to repair anything, including the oil change.

Customer contacted us via telephone about a week later. We provided the customer with an accurate estimate to repair the oil leaks at the top of the engine and for the brake and suspension work.

Customer scheduled service and we performed the services described in the estimate, cleaned the engine and road tested the vehicle. There were no leaks present at the time the vehicle was released.

We never quoted the oil level sensor but we did quote camshaft sensor replacement.

When the engine was clean, there were no leaks from the camshaft sensors so we did not replace them. As a result, the cost of the repair was less than estimated.

The vehicle then came back to us with an oil level sensor problem for which we quoted replacement. The customer declined replacement.

The customer contacted us by telephone 5 months later to indicate that she had checked the oil level herself and that the level was very low. We advised that the vehicle may be using oil due to high mileage but to bring the car in for us to take a look.

Two days later, when the vehicle was returned to us, we found oil leaks from the lower half of the engine. The lower half of the engine was not serviced at all during the previous repair. Additionally, we found that the power steering lines had also started to leak which further contributed to the amount of fluid on the bottom of the engine.

Original repair orders and worksheets are available for inspection upon request.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/06/29) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

Their response is not accurate. They told me they couldn't do the oil change because of multiple leaks. They quoted a price for the repair of multiple leaks. When I returned after I found the car was still loosing oil, suddenly service rep and the owner said to me that my car was going to be low despite repairs because it is an older car. This was never stated before the repair because if you tell a customer we are going to charge you a lot of money but the problem will not be fixed who would have the service performed? When I said this to them they said that theft knew about the other leaks but could not fix all the leaks for what they quoted. Why did they tell me they were fixing all the leaks for the quote if that was not the case? They were completely dishonest with me about being able to fix the vehicle. Not only did they not fix the problem, but they were very condescending in telling me I should have known that my car was still going to loose oil even after they repaired it. As for the repair being less than the estimate, the difference was around five dollars because they claim they fixed something else instead of the sensor which they never informed me of until I went to pick up the car and they never obtained my permission to fix this other item.

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/07/09) */

We feel that our diagnoses, work and our reply to the original complaint was accurate, honest and appropriate.

We do not feel that we can offer any other relevant information.

As indicated in our answer, original repair orders and worksheets are available for inspection.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

They have not offered a resolution. They never fixed the car and still refuse to do so.
