[redacted] came in to Speed Wash on 12/**/15 to pick up a comforter that she had dropped off almost 8 months ago on 4/**/15 that was sent out to be dry cleaned. We are a small store in Astoria and...

when we run out of room in the laundromat we put the older items in the basement. Before putting anything in the basement at least two phone calls are made to the customer. When I spoke to [redacted] on 12/**/15 I told her that I would personally go in the basement to look for her comforter, while letting her know that other people have access to this area. The very next day my husband and I went through the entire basement in hopes of finding her item. I called [redacted] back on 12/**/15 and told her that unfortunately we were unable to locate her comforter. We have Terms and Conditions both on our website and very visible in several areas in our store which states that we are not responsible for clothes left over 30 days. We would never get rid of any of our customers clothes but of course you take the risk of them getting lost when they are left for so long.

As mentioned in my earlier response, we call all customers at least twice before putting their items in the basement when we run out of room in our store. We write on the ticket if a voicemail was left, if their voicemail was full, if a phone was disconnected and even when a phone is not accepting incoming calls. Since the item was not found, along with the ticket, after almost 8 months of not being picked up, there is no way of me to know what the status was when the calls were made. I am not surprised that someone looking for restitution would state that they never received a call.
