Car Washed 4/23/17 1:03 PM. Mr. [redacted] called at 4:00 PM irate about tinted windows being scratched by us. Our office manager took his information. I returned his call and he was unreasonable and demanded I repair his tinted windows. He claimed they were factory tinted and it... was a new car only 2 weeks old. When asked what model year he said 2013. I again pressed him as to if it was “new” or used. He said factory certified. He claimed that someone was wearing rings or a watch or there was a rock in the towel and scratched the window tint taking a chunk out of it. I told him we do not allow our staff to wear rings or watches when working on vehciles and we take extreme care with our towels and are washed and inspected constantly to keep them debris free. I told him I would be happy to look at the alleged damage but am confident the damage did not happen here and could be a bad tint job or just wear from age. I reviewed the video surveillance that evening and saw that there was nothing unusual in the finishing of his car. Everything appeared ordinary. On 4/24 at 1:30 PM Mr [redacted] brought his vehicle for inspection. He apologized for being rude on the phone but that his wife had seen the scratched and got mad at him for them. However he was certain that they happened here. I inspected the scratched tint and was able to clearly determine that the damage was previously existing. The scratch patterns were very uniform (straight lines) and completely different than the wiping pattern our staff used to clean the window. It looked as if someone had tried to scrape something off the window. Furthermore all the tint was not factory as he had claimed on the phone but an aftermarket window film that is no more than a plastic sheet. Mr. [redacted] then claimed that he watched my staff member drop his towel and pick it up and continue using it. At this point based on watching the video surveillance I knew Mr. [redacted] was being dishonest. At no point in the cleaning of his vehicle did any towel get dropped and re used as he claimed and I know this based on careful review of video surveillance. At told Mr. [redacted] that the damage did not occur here and that the towel did not get dropped and I was not going to fix it for him. At that point he became more aggressive and threatened bad reviews on Facebook, Yelp and others if he didn’t get his money back. I offered him a free car wash only which he refused. At this point I just walked away from him and he began to yell at our customers telling them that we will scratch their tinted windows and not fix them. I just ignored him as many of the other customers did and he finally left. We will not make an adjustment as the window was clearly previously damaged and not scratched by our staff.
