Due to the residents’ negligence of a kitchen grease fire, the residents are held liable for and are aware of the fees to repair and restore the apartment. We have asked the residents to refer to their TAA lease contract, as we are in our legal right to make this decisionWe have agreed to
charge this back to the residents at the end of their lease agreement. As we are not cabinetry experts, we reached out to a cabinet vendor and was advised we could salvage the cabinets by method of refacing, in addition to replacing cabinet. The residents are not liable for the cabinet replacement. The refacing method consisted of all cabinets being refaced in order to have a uniform look. It is impossible to replace a cabinet to match what is existing when vendors no longer carry a specific type of cabinet. Had the residents not disturbed the integrity of the cabinets, we would not have to do any repairs to restore the damage. The residents have been advised they are liable for the cost of repairs which include painting of the walls and ceiling, air duct cleaning, venthood replacement, and refacing of all cabinets.Tell us why here
