Review: Company replaced a single gasket on hot water side of faucet, charged $325 and with two weeks the gasket blew. Another plumbing company had to replace the same gasket, plus the cold water side, plus a center line to the faucet. Second price was $300. This plumber advised the original job was poorly performed and grossly overcharged. Another plumber was also consulted and quoted the original job at $80. I sent a check to Speefy Rooter for $100 and explained that this was due to the outrageous price and horrible repair. Company has continued to rebill every week and had tacked on a $35 fee. Now we are being threatened with collections. They also have not responded to my letters or cashed my check. The same company rep advised me that the entire job would have been $800! Also advised me that a running toilet would be $500 to fix. This job was also performed by another plumber for $60 plus the part. This company is performing shoddy work at exhorbitant prices, and then threatens the customer. Cannot come to a reolution.Desired Settlement: Consider this account closed.

This is in response to [redacted] complaint...We did a repair on Mrs. [redacted] faucet. We told her the price up front and she signed the contract..After finishing the job she signed the completion side of the contract..She wrote us a check which we deposited. We were then informed by our bank that the check has insufficient funds and was returned to us with a charge of $35.00.We called her and she said she was going to send another check along with the $35.00 fee.She then sent us a letter saying that we were to expensive and sent a check for a $100.00 and that should cover the repair and her bank cost and ours..I would have like to have had a chance to go to Mrs. [redacted] house and settle this..If we did something wrong we would compensate her but we never had the chance.There is nothing on the work order about a leaky toilet and that price would never have been quoted..We replace entire toilets for less money. I,m not sure what she is referring to about the $800.00 estimate...We do excellent work and we have never threaten a customer as long as we have been in business..If a customer is not happy with our work we fix the problem for free, period..This has been a policy of Speedy Rooters since the beginning.We have not cashed her $100.00 check and will not until this is resolved. I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The "gentleman" that quoted the repairs did not perforn the work quoted. I have checked with other plumbing companies and have had the entire estimated job redone by another plumber. This company rep misquoted the job. They know he did. Their employee was an elderly genteman, and obviously did not know how to repair, or how to estimate the proper repair. One gasket is not a $325 job. I have also never spoken with this woman or anyone at this company in regards to the original payment, nor did I ever at any time say I would pay the rebilled amount. This business rep is now a liar as well, and this has become very serious. I also received a collection bill today.

The plumber tried adding unnecessary work, i.e. remove and replace a galvanized line feed, and leaks outside a brick wall. When I called Speedy Rooter Plumbing I said the tub waste pipe was the problem. Leakage only occured when someone showered so it couldn’t be a line feed. Water doesn’t go through brick walls. It had to be a waste problem.
Also I believe I should have been charged by the hour, vice the job.
I will never use them again.
