We purchased a GE Refrigerator and within a few months starting having temperature control issues. We contacted Spencer's and our complaints were minimized and we were assured that the refrigerator was just fine. Months later, the refrigerator stopped cooling and we told them we wanted the item returned and our money refunded. They would not agree and wanted us to service it and contact GE with any concerns. We repeatedly contacted GE and Spencer's with no resolution other than we had bought an extended warranty and should utilize it. This refrigerator has experienced numerous problems with the same cooling system issues. The same part has been replaced and there is a known defect with the refrigerator model. We have lost food, time from work, and inconvenience to our family over this refrigerator since the purchase in 2006! We have a detailed history of these problems - although neither the store or GE claim to have our documentations that this refrigerator is a lemon! The last service call was in April of 2013 and it broke again today (12-2013)! We are paying for another service call which will not be scheduled to arrive for another 5days! This refrigerator was a lemon from the first few months of purchase. We notified Spencers immediately of our concerns and then again when it actually broke! The store claimed no responsibility and suggested we use our extended warranty. If they can not stand behind their products and only believe in their extended warranty program - then they should only be in the business of selling the extended warranties. Instead, they highly recommended this refrigerator and claimed that it was an excellent product and that they stand behind all their products.
