I still believe that Herb Jones tried to pull a fast one.Reference your response to complaint ID [redacted] I inadvertently sent my message on Feb 17, before I had intended to, this is the message I had intended to send: When I had my auto in Herb Jones Garage at 8:A.M., Feb 2, 2017, I was asked to go into the garage to see some items the mechanic said was wrong with my car My first impression was shock at all the oil that was coming down from the engine of my car I had left my residence minutes prior and there was no oil on my garage floor They told me I had a bad oil leak, I needed to have the rack and pinion and fuel pump replaced I declined repairs at that time because I wanted to get a second opinion, especially on the oil leak I took the auto to [redacted] Service Center, [redacted] ***, [redacted] , KY [redacted] at 1:P.Mon Feb 2, He informed me that it looked like someone had poured oil on the engine and they had to clean it off, he also informed me that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle The rack and pinion and fuel pump did not need replacing When I arrived home, I placed a piece of white paper under my car and as of this date I have no oil on the paper This leads me to believe that what [redacted] Service Center was true about oil being poured on the engine I had no oil leak when I arrived at Herb Jones Chevy, but I had one when I left I realize they have cameras in the work shop, but I doubt they have them under the hood of the customer's car With all the evidence I have, I believe Herb Jones mechanics were using some devious practices If Herb Jones thinks this is an obvious and unjust attempt to slander his reputation then I suggest he be more honest with his customers I have been a customer with Herb Jones since 1976, buying automobiles and having repairs, however, I will never buy another automobile nor have repairs done at this dealership ever again [redacted] ***, *** [redacted] ***, [redacted] , KY *** ] Regards, [redacted] ***

This vehicle was diagnosed and had work completed by our shop in December Our service technician's assessment, based on his experiences with these engines, would be replacement Which the customer was advised However, when the vehicle was discovered to still be under factory warranty, GM's warranty guidelines were followed, which dictated the work that was completed while at our dealership The repairs completed under warranty did correct the problem at that time, but problems 3-months later have unfortunately occurred and the factory warranty is now expired I regret that this customer is experiencing these problems, but the repairs we made were completed to GM specs and procedures on vehicles under warranty

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below GMC extends a one year or 12,miles for maintenance repairs on engines I have not exceeded either stipulation of mileage or time Regards, [redacted]

Response:The vehicle in question was in our service department on 02/02/There is signage located in the service wriarea stating that there will be a minimum $charge on all diagnostic services performed on vehicles currently out of warrantyDuring the wriprocess the customer
requested the following items be checked: "a clinking noise in the front end of the vehicle all the time" diagnosed as noise in rack and pinion -- customer declined repairs "requests a brake inspection" diagnosed as operating to specs -- nothing needed at this time "request to check a noise when braking" diagnosed as unable to duplicate customer concern-- nothing needed at this time "a humming noise in the back of the vehicle" diagnosed as the fuel pump -- customer declined repairsThe fluid leakage was noticed by the mechanic and the customer was brought into the service area to inspect while the vehicle was still on the rackThe vehicle was here for approximately and 1/hours and the fee of $plus shop supplies $minus a $gift certificate plus $sales tax for a total of $was charged for the servicesAt that point the customer left our premisesShortly after, a post from the customer's daughter to our company website alerted us of the oil accusations and the attack on our integrityThe owner personally reviewed video surveillance of the shop while the customer's vehicle was here, verifying nothing out of the ordinary occurredThe owner reached out to the daughter of the customer and requested she come down and view the video footage for herself, which she declinedWe will not be refunding any of the diagnostic charges due to the fact all customer concerns were met, diagnosed, offered correction where needed, and declined by the customerThe customer is still welcome to come view the video of their visitWe have been in business for over years and have a well above average rating with the Revdex.comI trust that the Revdex.com will protect our interests in this obvious and unjust attempt to slander our reputation

Per a conversation with the customer, the complaint is with what GM warranty guidelines would allow us to repair, not with our dealership and the repairs that were made. Customer expressed to us that they were satisfied with repairs made, but felt GM should have authorized a more extensive repair. I was able to inform the customer that there has been a "special coverage" issued on her vehicle, since her original complaint, which could possibly cover the problems she is experiencing now. We would be more than happy to check the vehicle and determine if the "special coverage" would cover the issue for herHowever, she now resides in South Carolina, and it may be more convenient for her to have a closer GM dealer check the vehicle

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I am really not concerned about the charges they made to diagnose my vehicle.  My concern is the oil that was poured on the engine of my car.  As stated in my previous complaint,  I had no oil leak when I arrived at Herb Jones but I did have one when I left.  They are right, I will never purchase a vehicle nor have repairs from this dealership again.

Sir, our position on this matter has not changed.  Again, there is signage located in the service write-up area stating that there will be a minimum $100.00 charge on all diagnostic services performed on vehicles currently out of warranty.  You brought your vehicle in with four (4) specific concerns.  1. "a clinking noise in the front end of the vehicle all the time" diagnosed as noise in the rack and pinion, customer declined repairs, which it is fine to decline, the current rack and pinion may last forever, but if you want that clinking noise gone, you may have to replace it.  2.  "request a brake inspection" diagnosed as operating to specs - nothing needed at this time,
3.  "request to check a noise when braking" diagnosed as unable to duplicate customer concern - nothing needed at this time.   4.  "a humming noise in the back of the vehicle" diagnosed as the fuel pump - customer declined repairs, again which is fine, the current fuel pump may last forever, but if you want the humming noise to go away, you may need a fuel pump.  You or any other mechanic may or may not agree with our diagnoses, and you may continue to [redacted] your vehicle without making any repairs, but, if it was perfect and had no issues, why did you have four (4) concerns in the first place?    As for your oil accusations, I can assure you that no one at this dealership placed anything on or in your engine compartment, we've been in business for forty-seven (47) years and have no need to fabricate any service issues.  We were asked to diagnose four (4) problems, which we did. We charged nothing for any repairs, only the standard diagnostic fee.  As per your response, I feel badly that after forty-one (41) years this is how our business relationship is going to end, but would like to thank your past patronage and let you know you are always welcome at our dealership.

Response:The customer purchased a used vehicle from us on 01/14/2017 and experienced a transmission failure on or about 02/09/2017. The vehicle was 9 years old and had [redacted] miles at the time of purchase. The vehicle had a retail book value of $7525 and at the time was listed on our website at...

$4900 plus tax, license, and fees. The customer made the offer of $4700, including all taxes and fees, which we accepted. The vehicle was sold "as is" and at no time was any guarantee or warranty expressed. It is unfortunate that the customer is experiencing problems with the vehicle, but we do not feel responsible for an unforeseeable failure. The failure obviously occurred in a random fashion as there is no mention of the vehicle lurching or having shifting issues prior to that point. Furthermore, we have no knowledge of how the vehicle has been operated while in possession of the customer and it is virtually impossible to predict when a vehicle is going to experience a disabling problem of any nature. The customer's issue with the title would need to be addressed by the [redacted], as they issue the titles. We have completed all transfering and registering through the local clerk's office.
