SPICER'S GENERAL CONTRACTING AND LANSCAPING Reviews (1)

Review: Zach S[redacted] of Spicer Landscaping and Contracting conducted a classic bait and switch business practice: two estimates approved by me with substantial deposit. The first $1,500 on a $2,500 estimate for fence painting. The second, $2,200 deposit on $3,200 of work, siding replacement, new door, painting gate and railing.Work started shortly after 9/17. Work was unprofessianal, showing up late in day after 3PM and continued into our diner hour. Brought his minor children who stayed on jobsite at our home.Work was done sporadically, after we had to chase him.The major project to replace rotting siding on the garage was started and left unfinished. None of the project for which we have paid $3,700 deposits have been finished. On 10/23 a new "estimate" was submitted for $10,000 for the unfinished siding work origianlly estimated at $500. Two days later,on 10/25, a bill for an additional $3,300 shows up, detailing 80 hours of work which was never approved and could not possibly have taken place since the estimate.Zach pressured my wife to write additional checks, coming to our home and threatening her. He has forwarded texts threatening legal action. He has stopped work leaving our house exposed to the elements since siding is off the house as winter approaches. On 11/11 if sent an email and certified letter asking him to contact us regarding the projects with a demand to commence work and finish by 11/17. We have not heard from Zach or anyone at Spicer LandscapingDesired Settlement: We have hired another contractor to complete the substantially unfinished project which Zach started. Winter is fast approaching and the house framing is exposed to the weather. We would like $1, 000 of the $1,500 deposit returned as $500 is a reasonable payment for work completed on the 9/17 estimate. We would like $1,450 of the $2,200 deposit returned as $750 is a reasonable payment for work complete on the 10/12 estimate.Without a prompt resolution, I will pursue all legal recourse,
