I received a phone call from Jamie at SOS Inc on August 28, 2013. She said the company was a wholesale office supply company. The call was forwarded to me by our CFO who told me to place the order. I do not know what story they gave our CFO, I was told pricing for items we use most and placed the order that was instructed to place.
The pricing was highlighters for .99 per box, mini binder clips for .59 per box, small binder clips for .69 per box, ballpoint pens for .49 per box, gel pens for 1.99 per box and uniball pens for 1.99 per box, correction tape for 3.99 per pack, small paper clips for .69 per box, large paper clips for 1.29 per box, scotch tape for 2.29 per pack, small post-its for .69 per pack and 3X3 post-its for .99 per pack. She asked the size of our office and I told her that we have 30 employees. She said that she would send a small order and that it would be delivered in 5 days or less with terms net 30.
When the order came on 9/4/13, there was not an invoice with it, only a packing slip and at least one box was never delivered. I was shocked to see how many paper clips and correction tapes they sent and called for return shipping labels for those boxes. There were too many pens and highlighters also, but I felt we would at least be able to use them within 6 months so I would keep them.
I called on 9/4/13 and left a message at 11:56am and Paul Lang called back at 1:20 pm and said he would send two return labels. I called on 9/5/13 and left a message at 8:34am, was told at 10:51am that UPS should email the labels to me today. I called on 9/9/13 at 8.53am and was told that the labels would be put in the mail. Amazingly, the return labels were delivered on 9/23/13 and I sent the two boxes back the same day.
On 1/29/14 I received a call from Kelly at SOS Inc to collect on a past due invoice. My response was that I never received the invoice. She said she would email it to me. The invoice was emailed after I got off work for the day so I received the invoice on 1/30 and about fell out of my chair. I looked at the invoice and realized I had been charged per item instead of per pack as I was told the charge would be. I responded to the email with the invoice that the invoice should have been for $73.20 not $966.24 and detailed the correct charges for each line on the invoice.
Kelly called around 11am on 1/30/14 and offered to take 50% off. I said NO, the absolute most I would pay would be $146.40, double what I was told it would cost, to get this to go away. She said there must have been a miscommunication and I told her they should stand by what they told me it would cost. Kelly said she would email me a revised invoice.
I received the revised invoice with a total due of $146.40, but they changed the terms to Net 10. This has been a nightmare and this company should NOT be allowed to do business with ANYONE!! I am glad to have this whole experience behind me. On a scale of 1 to 5 for this company, I would give them a negative.
