Spinal Aid Centers of America Reviews (1)

Review: On 09/16/2013 I went to Spinal Aid in [redacted] for the free consultation that they were offering. My mother and I met with [redacted], who brought us a book that explained what spinal decompression is, how it works, and included testimonials from previous patients. After we reviewed the information he came back in and verbally explained how it works to my mother, father, child and I. At this time he did not know if I would be a candidate for these procedures so he requested that I have x-rays performed so I could be evaluated. We asked how much the X-rays would cost, and [redacted] told us it would be $75. We agreed to the price and went forward with the X-rays. [redacted] reviewed the X-rays with us and explained what he saw and gave us a sales pitch on how he could fix my neck and back. We asked [redacted] how much it would cost for me to go through the programs. He could not give us a straight forward answer. First it was $5000 and then it was $8000 for both programs which would cover approximately 20 sessions for the neck and 20 sessions for the back but it would be dependent upon what ever financing I went with. [redacted] then said if it took more than 20 session to get rid of my pain he would not charge me for them. We were a little hesitant to go through with the treatment at this point as I have a family friend that is a licensed Chiropractor as well and thought a second opinion would be a good idea. At this point [redacted] said he would figure out the total cost when he had time, but in the mean time he could get me start for $300 which would cover the cost of the neck and back braces I would need to buy.

After consulting with my family we decided to go forward with one treatment and see how it felt afterwards. We setup a followup appointment the next day with [redacted] which is when he would have calculated the total cost for my treatment plan. I woke up the following morning with sever pain in my back, and felt extremely ill. My family took me to the emergency room where I spent 8 hours. At the end of the 8 hours I found out that I was pregnant and due to my sever car accident in 2011 I would need to be see by a specialist because I was consider extremely high risk. After consulting with my physician I was informed I could not go through any treatments on my back and neck until after the baby was delivered.

A few weeks after I found out I was pregnant, I received a bill from Spinal Aid in the amount of $1254.50 which included services that I was never quoted or received.

This is nothing more than a simple bait and switch / unethical billing scheme where Spinal Aid lures customers in with a free consultation, and then bills them for unquoted or unrequested services. They then wait the minimum amount of time required by law to assign it to a collection agency or attorney hoping that the former customer does not reply in order to obtain a default judgment in court. A quick check of Wisconsin court records shows that 14 judgments were enter on behalf Spinal Aid since 2009. Of the 14 judgments awarded to Spinal Aid of Wausau 12 of them were obtained by default. This is a direct result of Spinal Aid baiting customers with a free consultation, not giving a set in stone price, and then attempting to bill a customer for unquoted services.

I look forward to resolving this issue amicably.Desired Settlement: Cease all current and future collection and legal actions.

Adjust bill $375 which is all we were quoted for the first on only visit I made.

Have no further contact with me or my family.

Inform future customers of hidden unassociated costs.
