To Whom It May Concern:We received a letter from the Revdex.com dated May 26, 2015 containing complaint from a patient Ms. [redacted]. This is the first time we have been made aware of this issue. The patients complaint states that she is upset that she cannot pay with her HSA card. The...

patient did not contact the Spine Institute of Arizona, she contacted the collection agency. Collection agencies are not medical facilities and cannot accept HSA cards as payment since they do not perform medical services. The Spine Institute of Arizona billing department has been notified and will be contacting Ms. [redacted] today, June 3, 2015. We will reach out to Ms. [redacted] with the updated contact information provided to us on your form. If the HSA card proves to be a valid form of payment we will happily accept the HSA payment and place the account in good standing when it reaches a zero balance. Not all HSA cards allow payment for past medical bills; we will attempt to use these funds to cover her past due amount. If the HSA card cannot be used on past due medical bills then the balance on the account will continue to be the patients responsibility. The Spine institute of Arizona works very hard not only to provide excellent medical care to our patients but to also work with all patients regarding any insurance or payment issues that may arise. We hope you recognize that the complaint Ms.[redacted] lodged is not a valid complaint since she was not working with the Spine Institute of Arizona, instead, she was communicating with the collection company. We will do our best to resolve this issue now that it has been brought to our attention. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or the practice administrator, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that there is some information that is being misrepresented and misunderstood.  Although I do accept their response, it needs to be known that when a bill goes into Collections I have no choice but to contact the Collection Agency the debt has been sold to AND Collection Agencies do have the authority to accept payments for medical bills that they have taken possession of with an HSA card as I have done it on several occasions in the past.  The reason I did NOT contact the Spine Institute is because I was not asked to by the Collection Agency.  They are the ones that told me the Spine Institute would not accept my payment via HSA card.  The Collection Agency had no problem taking my payment, but they needed to get the Spine Institute to accept the payment before it could be sent through to be completed.  I think before a company is going to try and "defend" themselves and slander either a person or another company, they might be the ones that need to get their story straight.  Yes, the payment was finally made only because the Spine Institute took it upon themselves to reach out to me as, AGAIN, I was told not to reach out to them and that they wouldn't accept my payment via HSA anyhow.  I have said my peace and made my one and only payment and this is now a dead issue.  The Spine Institute is not innocent in this and I am extremely upset that they are trying to play the victim here and put me and the Collection Agency as the bad guys.  I REFUSE to be ANYONE'S scapegoat.  Thank you and have a good-bye!
Regards,
