In May of 2014, I graduated from Texas State University with a Liberal Arts Degree in International BusinessWhile in university I took years of Mandarin Chinese and my teacher recommended the Chinese Culture CenterIn spring of 2015, I applied to the Culture Center and was immediately provided assistance and a path to getting a contract working in ChinaWithin a few weeks of my application, Lea W [redacted] was able to find me contracts in Hubei and BeijingShe then set up an interview with Hubei Medical University After I had secured my position at Hubei Medical University, MrsW [redacted] provided me with a list of documents to fill outOnce my paperwork was submitted and completed by professional offices I was asked to send my passport in order to start the process of getting a Z Work VisaThe most stressful part of the entire process was waiting to get my passport back I was very nervous because one week prior to my trip I still had not received my passportWhen the days until departure were winding down, I was able to stay in contact with Lea throughout the entire processThough the entire process was stressful and a bit expensive Lea W [redacted] was very helpful and fulfilled the Chinese Culture Centers missionI am satisfied and happy with my choice to use the Chinese Culture Center, and I would recommend it to anyone starting their search for work in China
I wanted to take the time to positively relate my experience with the Chinese Culture Center and their partner schools within China in July I am a Scottish secondary teacher of English and was seeking the chance to return to China and stumbled upon the Chinese Culture Center's paid teaching exchange programI was selected and was able to work at a school in Dongguan City, near Guangzhou in the south of ChinaI was placed with several wonderful American teachers, many of whom I have stayed in contact with, and was thrilled with the experience I had thereWe were placed in a hotel not far from the school and provided breakfast, lunch and snacks each dayThe Chinese colleagues we had were beyond helpful, going above and beyond in every venture (private and personal)I also maintain contact with many of my Chinese friends and found it fantastic to teach younger students for a change, participating in their school's summer campWe were given a rough curriculum to work with as a guide, but were also given the opportunity to use our own abilities and expertise to tailor and personalize our teaching I found the experience invaluable and hope to repeat the program some day
USCCC was able to get me and my 2yo child to China and into a well-paying position in Wuxi which is approximately a min bullet train ride from Shanghai I was teaching English courses to junior high students who were always interested in hearing stories or just having a general conversationThe school provided me with an apartment and much assistance with getting to know the area While there I was able to make many weekend trips to Shanghai and many other smaller surrounding cities Most of the people I met were very friendly and willing to help me find things or get places I had unfortunately ran into some issues with my visa but USCCC was very helpful in getting things worked out Overall my experience in China and with USCCC was positive and I plan to continue to work in China for a couple more years so I can travel more and meet many more people!

I had a positive experience with the Chinese Culture CenterFor the most part, the representatives were good at replying to questions on time, and communicating clearly what was expectedHowever, the teaching company that CCC put me in contact with upon my arrival in China was much more difficult to work with; they did a poor job of communicating and answering questions, and at times I had trouble receiving the pay I was entitled toTherefore I would recommend teachers work with CCC, but recommend CCC take a closer look at who they work with in China
