Rejection of Spiritual Workers Incresponse : My wife and I are experienced in relocating our home, we have done it, probably, 7-timesWe have never had a problem with movers about the move or the invoice, that is until nowWe have always found it to be the same "set up"We call for estimates, decide which is the best one for us and hire them to carry out the moveAfter the move an invoice is presented which is, in all cases the same as the original estimateThis has been with interstate, intercity and intertown movesIn all our moves we have always seen the same, 2-moving men AND the "man with the clipboard" ! This man does not help with the physical part of the moveHe supervises and directs the other workers making sure the move goes smoothly with the least chaos as possibleOur gratuities are generousAs for our son his gratuities were based on the original estimate, he assures me there would be none if he had known about the exhorbitant billMy wife carries out the packing as she has for all our moves, and none of it had been carried out "frantically"! My wife is not a frantic person and is well organised(A retired RN)She did not hold up the loading at all, because there was no uniform loading, the movers grabbed anything close at hand and took it to the truckthere were a lot of "is this going ?"I was agreeable to the estimate, we did not "shop around" because Spiritual Workers, Incwas recommended by our realtor, and she had previously passed on some valuable contactsNo contract was signed between us because Spiritual Workers Incwas adamant that they would not make a written contract because that was the way they did their businessOn the day scheduled for moving the movers pulled up outside the house on [redacted] StreetI was a bit perplexed by the vehicles Box truck (?) pitruck and a trailerI asked my wife if all our belongings were going to fit, she presumed that Spiritual Workers Incknew what they were doingUnfortunately that was not true.I watched while young men seemingly grabbed anything at hand and put it in the truck, I saw no supervision whatsoeverThe young men conjured up the impression of college/university students on their summer break.Eventually everything was loaded on the vehicles, although my wife had to stop them from leaving because there were other articles including large picture frames that had not been loadedI believe, but will stand correction, that another pitruck was involvedUnloading was a nightmare! The young men were bringing in boxes furniture, and the like asking where they should put themEverything was labelled with a number or description of their destination and their destination was marked in the same wayAfter the move we found many, many goods etcin the wrong places, I assume they didn't ask us about them !Of the items on the invoice that is most puzzling are the charges for vehicle rentalI have never come across such a thing. Why are we expected to pay for vehicle rental ? Isn't that part of Spiritual Workers Incbusiness expenses? Most moving companies own their own moving vansIt has always been my idea that price - costs = profitWhy all the discounts we were magnanimously awarded ? Are we such nice people? Oh perhaps senior citizen discount ? Or was the price being too inflated beyond acceptance ? To add inane comments as "barking orders" really shows up the disorganisation and ignorance of these moversYes they can write down the "manual" but actually following those procedures is a different matter. For Spiritual Workers Incinformation I was present at loading and unloading, perhaps they do not know me by sight, they dealt with my wifeI in fact read the destinations to the movers, I was in what was labelled "LR" ie Living RoomDid they deposit the goods in the right place ? I have no ideaIt was chaotic and I had to deal with more than one mover asking where to deposit their articles even though they were labelledThat was one of the problems, the movers seemed to have a big problem, even when directed, matching up the goods and furniture to their destinationsHence the amount of misplaced goods and furnitureTo even mention the bed is grossly inappropriate any movers would assemble bed frames as a courtesyThat the parts of the bed were incompatible delayed the move ? How long did it take the movers to find out the parts were incompatible ? hour ? hours or more ? My guess would be minutes or at mostThe owner apparently hired a lawyer bill collector to frighten us into paying, although we had not indicated to anyone that we were not going to payWe needed time to check the bill, given the numberThe lawyer bill collector sent us a letter on September 11th 2015, demanding payment by September 21st or face the threat of a lawsuitThe invoice was dated September 4th I asked her to stop communicating with us, and it seems she didI believe that this move was beyond the experience and resources of the movers in light of an inaccurate estimate submitted by the ownerAt one time the lawyer bill collector alleged we changed what was estimated to larger amount to be moved, a ludicrous accusation, but one suggesting we committed fraudIn Spiritual Workers Incresponse is the accusation that the contractors were the cause of delayNothing could be further from the truthThe contractors tried to be as helpful as they could and even made spaces for the articles being unloadedIs Spiritual Workers Incgoing to blame anybody else to excuse their ineptitude ? Regarding the estimate, the owner of Spiritual Workers Incwas at [redacted] after we called for an estimateHe saw what was entailed in the move, the floors, basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor, the attic, the garage and the garden shedAlso the move required a journey to be taken of approximately yards from door to door.Of course we expected to pay for the dump run, which did not include any city-owned trash cansWhat we did not expect was an invoice that was more than half again of the original estimateThe major cause of the delay and chaos of the move was the inaccurate estimate made by the ownerHad he made a proper estimate, the move would have gone a lot smoother, perhapsI propose a payment of two thousand and thirty dollars ($2030.00), consisting of : Original estimate - $1550.00Cleaning basementand dump run 230.00Vehicle rental 250.00Total $
