Review: I visited Sport & Health of Stafford, VA with my friend ([redacted]) in April 2013. At that time I agreed to pay for ONLY the first month of [redacted] gym membership there, which I clearly stated to the individual processing my card payment. I therefore swiped my credit card to pay for [redacted] first month. In December I learned that Sport & Health had been charging my card the entire time for my friend's membership, which I did not agree to at any time. I never use this particular credit card and hadn't noticed the charges being run against it by Sport & Health. When I called to have them reverse the charges and assess them to my friend ([redacted]) they told me it was my responsibility to make him pay. I told them it was not my job to invoice/collect from their clients and I asked for them to provide me with the agreement my signature on it allowing them to charge my card all those times. They have stated they have no such agreement with my signature on it - they have a contract with [redacted] signature on it. They refuse to reverse the charges.Desired Settlement: I want my bill corrected and all charges reversed except for the first month of [redacted] membership (which I DID agree to pay for). I also think an apology is in order, given that my wife and I have been good customers with this company for over a year and a half paying almost $100/month.

Response:

As any company, we will and have removed the billing information once notified. It is though our position that we are not responsible for 7 months of errors that from our position we are unable to as the intent of this person and their original desire to pay for this membership. We have though made an attempt to contact the other party and if we receive a payment for the disputed amount we will process an adjustment to the primary party.

Review: Deception for a little commission is what I faced this afternoon at the local gym facility. After months of being heavily perused by one of their sales guy Jeff, I remain hesitant to sign up. I am a stay at home mother of a one year old who has been unemployed for about 7 months. Knowing exactly the type of special I was looking for, I waited for a special that contained free personal training sessions. After landing off an international flight, I called the gym after seeing an email for a special that contained 4 free training sessions with sign up. On the special it said, "while supplies last" therefore I called the gym to inquire if this was still available. I spoke to Phillip who said "yes, it was available". I signed up the same day and allowed them to process my $50 sign up fee. After being at the gym a couple times with a trainer, I got a call from their fitness [redacted]. So today, after my work out, I stopped by to see her. She told me that the training sessions were not included in my sign up as advertised. She proceeded to argue with me back and forth. After showing her evidence that I tried to reach Jeff, I called asking about the special and was told it was available. She continued to go back and forth with me until I felt embarrassed, uncomfortable, and as she went to ask [redacted] who denied sharing that information with me, all that was left for her to say was to call me a liar. The trainer I worked with approached the door, so I felt ganged up on so I walked out. I called [redacted] and left a message instructing them to cancel my membership. I then called the gym [redacted], who then defended the actions of his team and said he saw that there was some, "misunderstandings" but "his staff were great" and [redacted] was an excellent [redacted]". [redacted] skills in customer service was below a zero. Instead of debating me, she could have apologized for the confusion and moved forward. The manager was disappointing as well, who defended their poor actions.Desired Settlement: I requested to have my membership cancelled as I am still within my 30 day trial period. The services of the staff were unacceptable. I felt ganged up, and would not feel comfortable walking into their gym again. I await an email confirmation of the cancellation of this membership. I feel taken advantage of to fill a monthly quota. As a new member, I felt this situation could have been handled 100 percent better and I hope this never happens to another person in the future.

Response:

membership was cancelled over a week ago. Customer failed to reply to the offer by the deadline, we offered a second offer which she exacpted, but later wanted more. As we were unable to accomindate, we allowed her to cancel.

Review: Sport and Health took an unauthorized debt out of my account after they had reassured me multiple time that they would not. In addition to that I made it clear to both the employee at the front desk and to the [redacted] that I DID NOT want my credit card on file and DID NOT want it to be automatically taken out. I made sure that it was stated multiple times because it was something that I and my husband were worried about. The [redacted] told me that he would have it taken off right away. Then after the debt was taken they stated they would refund my money immediately because it was their mistake and after I asked why they did not remove my card from the file [redacted] stated that he didn't know why it wasn't removed.. After not receiving the refund they refused to take or return my calls. I once again went up there in person and was told by their [redacted] that he had requested my refund and that I should receive my money in 5-7 business days from the day that we had talked which was . After I pointed out that more then that time had already passed he told me that he would check again and to let him know if I didn't receive it. I still have not received my refund and now I cannot get my questions answered as to where my refund is or get my voicemails or calls returned. All we would like is our money back.Desired Settlement: All my husband and I would like is the money back that we were told we would receive and that they weren't supposed to take in the first place.
