Sport Body & Paint Reviews (1)

Review: October 14, 2013

To Whom It May Concern:

I went to Sport Chevrolet, 3101 Automobile Boulevard, Silver Spring, MD 20904, on September 26,2013, to get my car’s oil changed. Now, I paid for a service contract at Sport Chevrolet on February 22, 2011. The contract is through a company called [redacted] Underwriters Service Corporation was the name given on the bottom of page 1 of the contract). The contract said that I was entitled to 15 oil changes and 10 tire rotations. When I got to the Quick Lube last month, I was told that I could not get my oil changed unless I paid for the servicing because the Engine Oil Life System (EOLS) that is part of the Driver Information Center (DIC) on the dashboard in the car was not 20% or less. It was 47 or 48% at that time.

The first time that I tried to use the contract, I had gone to the Quick Lube at Sport Chevrolet. The Quick Lube performed that oil change. But the Quick Lube told me that I should not bring my car in for an oil change before the EOLS on the DIC on the dashboard in the car was 15% or less. Since then, I had it serviced a couple of times through the service department at Sport Chevrolet at intervals where the EOLS on the DIC did not go down to 15% (or even 20%). On the 26th of September, they told me that the EOLS on the DIC had to read 20% or less for them to change the oil without charging me for the service. It had been over 8 months since I had last gotten the oil changed. I even asked the young man why he would make me come back when I was 500 miles short of 5,000 miles since my last change. After this, I wrote the attached letter to [redacted] Underwriters Service Corporation expressing my disgust with the situation. I also sent a copy to GM’s Customer Service department as well.

[redacted] at GM’s Customer Service Department told me to call [redacted] (UUSC) and the dealer regarding the situation. I did call [redacted]’s Customer Service Department (###-###-####) today (10/14/2013) before I called Sport Chevrolet and spoke to “[redacted]”. [redacted] indicated to me that as long as I had less than the total 15 oil changes, I could get my oil changed whenever I wanted to get it changed. He told me that [redacted] does not dictate when I can get my servicing done. I mean I got the contract in the first place because I wanted to make sure there was no reason why I did not get the car serviced regularly. I think that is the only reason someone buys a Service contract in the first place.

I then called and spoke to [redacted] (###-###-####) in the Service Department at Sport Chevrolet and asked her if they would change my oil under the contract if I were to come there with my mileage over 5,000 miles since my last oil change but my EOLS on the DIC reading 44%. [redacted] told me that unless the DIC was down to 20%, Sport Chevrolet would not change the oil under the contract because [redacted] (UUSC) will not pay Sport Chevrolet for the oil change. I told her that that was not what [redacted] was telling me. She offered to connect me to a manager. I told her not to because as far as I was concerned by reason of her response, Sport Chevrolet had made it very clear to me that they were not going to do it unless the EOLS on the DIC was lower than 20%

I then called [redacted] again and spoke to [redacted] who told me exactly what [redacted] had said earlier.

Based on the conversations described above, I feel I find myself at a dead end. I now come to the Revdex.com because I can see that I will not get anywhere with Sport Chevrolet and [redacted]. If it is a matter of better communication within Sport Chevrolet or even between Sport Chevrolet and [redacted]/UUC), I wish they would take care of the situation. These transactions should be transparent to me. I await any assistance that you may be able to provide to resolve this situation.

I can be reached at ###-###-####. You can also contact me at [redacted].

Thank you for your time.

To: [redacted], Thank you for your assistance. You did seem to be looking for what the service interval should be for an HHR. On page 6-20 of the 2011 Chevrolet HHR Owner Manual under When To Change Engine Oil, it says, "If the system is ever reset accidentally, the oil must be changed at 3,000 miles (5,000 km.) since the last oil change." It pretty much says the same thing on page 7-3 underScheduled Maintenance: When The Oil Change Soon Message Displays, it says "If the engine oil life system is reset accidentally, service the vehicle within 5,000 km./3,000 miles since the last service." I think 5,000 mile oil maintenance intervals can be found on Ford Motor Company's vehicles. I don't ever recall seeing a 5,000 miles maintenance interval on any GM car that I have owned. I did notice one thing when I had the oil changed today and that was that the invoice they printed seemed to show a significant rise in the Charges. It was $42.88. Again, thank you for your assistance. [redacted] On 10/30/13, [redacted]<[redacted].[redacted]> wrote:

Good afternoon **. [redacted]...

Thanks for your call earlier today - I appreciated the opportunity to discuss your maintenance plan with you.

To summarize our conversation; Your maintenance plan's term will provide a total of 15 'A' services (oil and filter changes) and 10 'B' services (tire

rotations).

The service interval you selected is 5,000 miles, but as we discussed, you may have your car serviced at the interval you desire, which may be less

than or greater than the 5,000 mile interval. Your maintenance plan will expire when the length of time of the Plan Term is reached. According to

your contract, the expiration date is February 22, 2016.

I hope you will not encounter any future difficulties having your vehicle serviced at Sport Chevrolet. If you should have any further questions, or

need assistance, please feel to contact me directly. My contact information is listed below.

Best regards,
