Review: Hi,

I have had the Spot Satellite Messenger Service for myself for the past few years, and annually update the payment information so that my service continues uninterrupted. In November of 2015, my father added Roadside Service and GEOS Search and Rescue insurance to my plan, using his card, with the intention that it was a one time payment. The SPOT website saved his payment information and used his information to process an unauthorized payment on 1-9-16 in the amount of $179.98.

I spoke with Spot on both February 24th and April 4th, and they refused to issue me a refund for the unauthorized charge. All they would offer is a prorated refund of $100.45.

In addition to refusing to refund an unauthorized charge, they continually raise the price of the service and don't disclose it to subscribers. Buried in the Terms and Conditions it says you automatically agree to any price increases and you have no recourse other than accept them and have your credit card auto charged. Also, they force you to keep credit card information on file or else they will suspend your service. Spot's customer service representative and a supervisor I spoke with both stated that the credit card information could not be removed from their software until after the device was deactivated and the refund had been processed. They stated they would call me upon the device deactivation and refund processing to manually remove my fathers card from their system. I believe the fact they will not remove your credit card information is illegal, and in violation of PCI compliance.

I strongly feel these business practices are unethical, opaque, and bad business.

I have had my service cancelled and requested the prorated refund of $100.45 because if I didn't accept the prorated refund they said my service would stay active and I would lose the ability to receive any refund.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund in the amount of $179.98 and removal of my credit card info from their system.

Review: On 02/04/2015 Spot LLC 866-651-7768 made an Unauthorized Fraudulent Withdrawal from my bank account. The account with them had been closed in December of 2014, and they not only withdrew the money from the account but told us that even though We closed the account in December of 2014 their Representative did not follow through and actually deactivate it so therefore they charged our account and could not refund the money back to us as it is a "Protective Service" and turning it off may have placed the person using it in danger! We do not owe this company any money as we closed this account in December of 2014, at the end of the first and ONLY contract! They have NO Authorization to remove money from our bank account and when they called recently asking us to reactivate we told them NOT AT THIS TIME as it would be sometime in April before we would need their services again and we would call them. Today, while trying to fix this problem their phone REP kept telling me what a bargain we were getting and how he could not refund the money as the name on His note screen of who "authorized the Withdrawal" wasn't a name he recognized so as he stated "Enjoy the service!"Desired Settlement: Spot LLC needs to refund what it Withdrew on a CLOSED SPOT Account$49.95,and be investigated for fraudulent Consumer Practices.

Review: There are several major issues with this business:

1) I contacted the company when I was shopping around for quotes to purchase 9 emergency communication devices for my employees. This company gave me a quote that included a bulk discount for the yearly service fee. I decided to go with this company based on the discount and purchased $1200 worth of equipment. When it came time to activate the equipment, I was incorrectly billed for the full amount of the yearly service charge. It took several weeks for me to resolve this issue with the company.

2) It is now time for me to renew my yearly subscription with this company. Again, I contacted customer service so that I could get the service rate that we agreed upon. This time, they told me that the rate was a one-time-only offer and that I would now have to pay full price for the service. This was extremely deceiving, as the quote itemizes which components were a one-time-only offer, and the discounted service rate was not listed as one of these offers. It has become apparent that the person who originally wrote the quote made a mistake, and the company weaseled their way out by claiming that the quote was only good for 30 days. I would not have purchased the $1200 equipment if I had known that the service charge was going to increase by $400/year after the 1st year. Now I'm forced to either pay that difference every year or invest over $1000 in equipment from another company.

3) I have been trying to resolve the above issue for over a month. I have made repeated phone calls and emails. The customer service representatives that I speak to tell me that they need to talk to their supervisor, who refuses to reach out to me. THIS IS A COMPANY WHOSE PRODUCT IS SUPPOSED TO PROMPTLY SEND S.O.S SIGNALS WHEN A CUSTOMER IS IN DANGER, YET THEIR INTERNAL COMMUNICATION IS FRIGHTENINGLY POOR AND INEFFICIENT.

4) The company stored my credit card information without my permission and made a $500 erroneous charge on it. This also took over 1 month to resolve.Desired Settlement: I would either like a refund of the $1200 of equipment purchases (I can return the equipment if requested), or I would like to continue receiving service at the original price that your company promised.
