Spotless Quick Lube Reviews (1)

Review: I was a customer of Spotless Quick Lube in Hackensack, NJ from May 2012. I had my 2007 Lexus ES350 serviced at the Spotless Quick Lube on four different occasions. All those times, I had a Synthetic Oil Change Service performed on my car. The dates of service were: May 19, 2012; Oct 13, 2012; May 26, 2012; and Oct 13, 2013.

On Oct 13, 2013, the technicians who worked on my car told me that the oil filter cap cannot be unscrewed from its housing. They asserted that they could not replace the oil filter and recommended that I go to a Lexus dealership for this work to be done.

Therefore, I went to Lexus of Englewood on Oct 19, 2013 and requested that they change my oil filter according to the Spotless Quick Lube technicians' instructions. The technicians at Lexus of Englewood explained that they could not remove the filter cap because it was fused to the housing and was caused by either, the filter housing cap not been removed in a while, or, it was over-tightened the last time it was changed.

I took the car back to Spotless Quick Lube on October 23, 2013, and their technicians spent a whole day trying to unscrew the cap without success. After that, I was forced to go back to Lexus of Englewood to resolve the issue. They gave me an estimate to repair this problem which included removing and replacing the #1 Oil Pan Subassembly (Upper) with a total cost of $2,456.66.

Due to the fact that the last time the oil filter on my car was changed was at the Spotless Quick Lube on May 26, 2013, the only reasonable conclusion is that the technician working has over-tightened the oil filter cap and caused the problem.Desired Settlement: Payment to repair the caused damage to the vehicle.

Response:

This is in response to ID #[redacted]5 Customer states that he was told by Lexus Dealer that there are two ways his problem could

have been caused.

1. Over tightening of oil filter canister housing cap 2. Oil filter had not been removed in a while

In answers to #1 1.

Cap could not have been over tightened because our technicians are experienced and use a special torque wrench (made for these appiications) that limits the amount that the canister

cap can be tightened to.

In answers to #2.

On the last two oil changes customer went 9400 miles and 7200 respectively on oil changes.

This is well over recommended 5000 miles. The heat built up from going this long could quite possibly have caused the aluminum canister cap to fuse to the housing.
