Spotlight Studios North Star, LLC. Reviews (1)

Review: After being informed of a national competition that the Spotlight Studios Cheerleading Athletes were invited to. The fundraiser flyer and sponsors form That was given to people specifically said that the proceeds were to help pay for the athletes travel and competition expenses. With that said, people were very apt to help these kids. My daughter sold many flower baskets to help pay her way, my cousin gave a check to the gym on behalf of a my athlete. This was strictly to go towards their trip expenses, yet I later found out it was used to pay for their dues and tuition for the next coming competition session. People did not plan for this money to go there and it did. This is very frustrating because people are not just handing money out to pay for their monthly dues, strictly for this life experience these kids would have. I don't believe that the coach/owner has the right to use the money for anything else other than what it was givin for!!!Desired Settlement: I think these kids are intitled to this money, and its shouldn't be used for dues or anything else other than the FL trip. She should bill the families for next season dues.

To whom it may concern,

Spotlight Studios North Star prides itself on good and ethical practices- we in no way agree with these statements accused of the business.

Prior to the situation:

We are in contract with [redacted], [redacted]/s father, not [redacted], her mother. When our athletes sign up- there is a parent requested to be the financial responsible party and contact for the gym- he is the parent guardian listed as hers„ It is a divided household. He is also who we have been asked even by [redacted] to be in contact with concerning all fees and connection to cheer, She chose to not participate most of the year in gym communication.

When we as a gym decided to go on this trip:

The business had a parent meeting discussing how funds would be used for all fundraising- [redacted] did not attend.

We also published it in our weekly gym email- for almost two months.

Upon the dispute arising, and her throwing a major fit in the lobby, the business contacted our legal representation to be very clear everything we were doing was in accordance with good practices, Our attorney consulted and agreed that our course of action was correct.

Here was our course of action;

We contacted the parent our business is in contract with- [redacted] Heln2

We had a meeting

In this meeting, we explained that if [redacted] as the athlete wanted the (ENTIRE) funds released from fundraising we were happy to do so but the business had bills incurred by her participation in the trip and for the month of service already render bv the business in her cheering. These were bills that were not paid even after we applied her SPONSORSHIP MONEY. If he would like to pay out of pocket for those dues then we could release the whole amount.

He then chose to do so.

Focusing on the Sponsorship money:

Let me be very clear that at all times OUR SPONSORS MONEY TO ALL OUR ATHLETES WENT SOLELY TO FLORIDA AND IN NO WAY WENT TO ANY DUES TO THE BUSINESS. WE CAN PROVIDE HER STATEMENT TO SHOW THAT, HAVE DISCUSSED THAT WITH HER AND HER FATHER AND THE SPONSOR WAS GIVEN ALL THE CREDIT FOR THE MONEY PROVIDED ON THE SPONSOR SHIRT THE TEAM WORE TO FLORD1A.

What seems to be at the base of this concern is 1st, a family matter of which parent pays for cheer, as her mother (linda young) wants no responsibility AND that she wanted the business to release her other fundraising money accrued from selling flower baskets to her daughter without paying her required fees.

Spotlight will be faxing through a copy of her statement and here are the checks that were also written to cash out any further funds given to [redacted]- that her father and our business agreed upon.

We have very clearly been completely ethical and more than fair in this situation, and some may consider that her other fundraising was done under the name of the gym and should not be given to the individual. We did however go above and bevond and give her that money.

Check paid to [redacted]y in amount of $ 388.34 check number [redacted]

Check paid to [redacted]y in amount of $21.66 check number [redacted]

Check paid to [redacted]y in amount of $250.00 check number [redacted]

Thank you for your time in this matter.
