Spotsylvania Gold & Pawn Reviews (1)

Review: My husband purchased a [redacted] system from Spotsylvania Gold and [redacted] back in June of 2013. When the purchase was made it was stated if there was anything wrong with system he could return it with in 30 days, based on the fact that we the consumer would not have damaged the product ourselves. We got the game system home it would seemed to be working fine. Until three days later when the system was being used it would freeze after 20 min. I had contacted [redacted] manufacture to see if they could help diagnose the problem. After several attempts of trouble shooting over the phone and via the internet they explained to me something must be wrong with the software it self. It would then cost aprox. $ 100 service fee for them to look at it and I would have to mail it to them. I was also informed I could take it to a game stop and see if they could help. Since game stop is just around the corner I choose that option. When My husband took the system to them they informed us that someone had tampered with the system and to return it where it was purchased. My husband then contacted Spotsylvania gold and [redacted] and informed them of the situation. Since we live out of state I had to pay to ship the system back which was aprox. $27 to do so. They stated they would have an outside tech that they deal with check out the system and would get back us. Now that we had paid not only $150 for the system itself plus paid $27 to ship it back. I have eaten the lost of everything. Not only are the accusing my husband and I of doing something or having someone else to have tampered with the game system. I'm out $170, because they only thing they are claiming is that by word of mouth they check all the game systems. If this is true why did a third party have to get involved with their diagnoses. if they couldn't tell what was wrong with the game system in the first place how did they check it? These questions are being brought forth because I don't even have possession of the broken system. So in turn I have put forth the risk of the purchase plus shipping cost and could even sell the broken one for parts to at least off set some of the lost because I don't have anything. When the game system was checked everything wad operational. now that its not I feel the company claims they will give a refund or compensate you just to claim the consumer had done something and aren't obligated to do right, No matter what I would still endure a loss simple because they store new we didn't live in the area do if something did go wrong I would have to pay for shipping both ways. My husband accepted these terms having dealt with them in the past having lived in the area. Now the only thing they claim is that we did something to the system. I ask you one question why would, I because I would get anything out of it but losing even more money?Desired Settlement: At this point I want to just be refunded the cost of the system I paid for minus the hard drive that was included because that was used in a replacement we purchased at a reputable store. I will accept $135 and nothing less.

Response:

Good afternoon. I am new here at Spotsy Gold and Pawn, and just came across both notifications for the above. Having spoken to our assistant manager [redacted], we are wondering whether the customer is willing to accept another system or if they prefer strictly a cash settlement. Please note we still have to run this by the owner, but we want to try and make this right. The issue on this end apparently, is the fact that the seal inside the system was broken. From my understanding, this is always checked before a system is purchased by the store. Just saw the customer's email, so am cc-ing them as well. [redacted], please advise how you wish to proceed, and I will work on it at this end. Thank you very much, and indeed I am sorry for your trouble.
