*** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** In response to this complaint I must first fill in the missing information. On August 26,Mr *** made arrangments for my company to send a few guys to *** *** ( located in the same
building as we are) to push his vehicle to our shop. Because the vehicle was not driveable (no fluids in the drive train as well as it was in the stages of being rebuilt) Mr *** as stated on the work order Invoice number *** dated aug 26/want this work to be performed "alignment, tighten pitman arm, install customer supplied front brake pads and bleed brakes". Later that day when we completed the work it was noted on the invoice that when we recieved the vehicle the left front caliper piston had been pushed out, we put it back in place but it would probably leak. Also the vehicle couldn't be test driven do to the fact it didn't run.** *** *** ** *** * *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** The vehicle was never close to being road worthy when in our possession. Also it is our company policy that customer supplied parts voids all warranty (parts and labour). Our warranty policy is year 20,kms covering parts and labour. Now to the work order date June 7, inv #*** work requested "check front brakes for leaks" at this time our shop forman explained that the customer he could not drive the vehicle into the shop. After getting the vehicle on the hoist and locating the leak to the caliper castings we filled the surfaces smooth and reassembled as required. During this work the shop forman showed the cusotmer the cause of the leak and explained the repair. The vehicle was in the shop for several hours and the customer was billed for hour of labour. Which even if the vehicle had returned to us in a year would have had nothing to do with the work we billed for in August of 2015.So at this time we will not be refunding the under charged amount for the work that was completed

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/23) */
The brake inspection that *** refers to "a few years ago" was on Dec 12/during his winter tire change over which the invoice amount was $and was told at that time front pads at 6mm rear pads at 4mm odo
A young lady dropped of
the car on Sept 21/odo complaining of brake noise and wanted her brakes inspectedA quote was presented at approxvehicle requiring front calipers, front rotors, pads as well as rear pads, rotorsWe called Greg with the quote, he then responded several hours later explaining that "it was in the budget and that they would be back next month"The vehicle was then reassembled and put out for pick up explained that it had no rear brake material and should not be drivenThe young lady came to pick up the vehicle and paid the billtax in which the shop supplies priced at Greg then called for explanation and was told that brake inspections are not free and asked if the amount would come off his repairHe was told that we could reduce his repair amount by if he proceeded with the repairs in a timely manner
We appreciate the Revdex.com gives us and our customers the ability to discuss issues but at this time we regret that the customer does not see value of the services we providedBut we will not be refunding for the inspection
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
On September 12th the "young women" referred to in the response, went into the Tirecraft to see if they did brake work and then setup an appointment to have the work completedShe then called back in the afternoon to check the cost of the brake job and was told the job would cost up to $500, with better parts, but that the cost could be somewhat lower than that
When I was called to be told the work would be $I said I would have to check the budgetAgain my issue is with how the price went from under $to $This price jump feels like a bait and switch tactic and I hear "young women" are often targeted by garages for extra fees\
When I called a *** dealership for the cost on a break job prior to taking the car to Tirecraft I was quoted approximately $1,I should have known that Tirecraft's $quote was too good to be true, but you just don't know who to trust
I believe the $fee was used as an incentive to bring the car backWe were given a doom and gloom story about how the breaks were seized up and NOT told "that we could reduce (our) repair amount by if (we) proceeded with the repairs in a timely manner"It is worth noting that the breaks only just started making any kind of noise that would warn of problems
The $lesson I learned from this is that when you are ready to drop your car off at a garage and have been told what the cost will be, any answer you get is a very rough estimate used to numb the true cost to come

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: At no point do they deny that 1) The pitman arm was never tightened [redacted].2) The brakes severely leaked due to the brake lines never being tightened to the calipers (nothing to do with the calipers)which also meant the lines never could have been bled due to the fact there would have been air in the lines.
3) Company also does not deny the call in right after the original work claiming warranty. They also do not deny they agreed to do the repairs once the car was on the road.[redacted] Tightening down the pitman arm was requested only because I did not have a large enough socket and was a one minute job. [redacted]
